About Me
I am a live-in caregiver for a lady with Alzheimer's. Luckily, her family understands (or tries to understand) the limitations I have with FM and CFS. I have a wonderful son, a beautiful angel of a daughter-in-law and two grandsons who live with them nearly 400 mi. from where I now live. I manage to see them, and my parents, at least once or twice a year.

Interests
When I am between flares, I enjoy karaoke, dancing, my artwork, needlework, and music. During flares, I can still enjoy my music, but my creativity seems to fade with my agility. That's when I read a massive number of books! Being on duty night and day (except for the 12-hours twice a week when a family member relieves me) just doesn't give me much time for many outside interests.

Close Fibromyalgia
Was diagnosed in early 1990's with FM/CFS. Have lived with the slurs "hypochondriac", "lazy", "slacker", "poor work-ethic", etc. ever since. And that was just friends, a few family members and co-workers! What must my enemies say!?!
Treatments
- Cyclobenzaprine Not Working
- It didn't work for me. Either it or the combination of Flexeril and amitriptyline made me feel as if I were "too big for my body" (restless leg syndrome all over my body?)
- Elavil Not Working
- weight gain caused more depression than the FM did.
- Guaifenesin Working / Worked
- At the time I used it effectively, I was able to get it by prescription. Now that it's OTC, I can't afford to use it in the doses that were effective before. When I began the g-therapy before, I had been crawling from the sofa to the bathroom, unable to make it to bed. Within a couple of weeks, I was able to exercise my arms and legs while lying down...and eventually began to walk. First 1/2 a block, then more, until I could function almost normally.

Close Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

- DHEA Working / Worked
- I took the DHEA supplement while following the book "How To Look and Feel 10 Years Younger In 10 Weeks" I felt great, but cost of all the supplements was horrendous. Had no idea DHEA was considered a treatment for CFS!
- Reiki Working / Worked
- The one time I had it done was amazing! Wish I could have continued.
Open Essential Tremor
Just rec'd diagnosis of essential tremors (familial) and was put on Lyrica for ET as well as fibromyalgia.
