Wow. It has been 2 years since I had my PE which has changed my life forever. I have recently moved back home to get back onto my feet financially. I am still working on my masters just transfered schools. I am more determined than ever to live my life to the fullest and if I really want to do something... I do it. Also, life is too short to live with regrets. Life happens we deal with it and move on! Anyone want to talk have questions about any sickness I have went through feel free to message me.

Hey MSM24-
Keep your chin up. I know its tough and a lot of us have been there. I got the thrush thing a while back from advair and it took a while to kick it.
Hopefully, your new meds will work better. Good luck!!!

Thanks, I appreciate it. It seems to be getting better emotionally, and I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that the doc is gonna say what the doc is gonna say, and the test results will be what they are. I can't control them to come out like I hope :)

Close Pulmonary Embolism
I was found out I had a P.E. in August 2007. I had been sick with broncitis and I still continued to have chest discomfort so they ran some test and found the P.E. I spent three days in the hospital and then was sent home on both Coumadin and Lovenox. Less than a week later I was back in the hospital with excrutiating pain all over. They did tests to make sure it wasnt blood clots but it was just a reaction to my meds. Now I am just on Lovenox and doing better. Docs think it was caused by b.c.
Treatments
- Coumadin Not Working
- Well I wouldnt say it was helpful but it got my blood to the right levels but I was totally miserable the month I was on it. I threw up everything I ate and I had excrutiating muscle pain all over my body. I was on pain killers to control this but this kept me in bed a lot. I was either in pain or druged up!
- Lovenox Working / Worked
- I get bruises and knots on the injection site and it burns for a little while after the shot. Overall it is okay!! Much much better than being on coumadin!! I have to be on this for about 7 months.
Close Gallstones
Had gallbladder problems at 16 and had it removed. I feel much better since then!
Treatments
- Low Fat Diet Somewhat Helpful
- It made it better but didnt take away all the pain. Now I am on a regular diet.
- Surgery Working / Worked
- After surgery be prepared for lots of stomach pain. It took me about 6 months before it was all back to normal. there was steady improvement. I just couldnt wear anything like pantyhose for 6 months because the pressure on the scars hurt! Now 8 yrs later im fine. Glad to be rid of that pain
Open Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
I actually only had a PE and not a DVT but some of the discusions are interesting and I like to read them and put input.
Treatments
- Coumadin Not Working
- made me very very sick. I threw up everything I ate and also made me have bad aches (about a 9 on a pain scale) and pains all over my body. Was miserable for a month on this. Finaly was able to switch to lovenox
- Lovenox Working / Worked
- Was on lovenox for a 11 days till my INR was within range and then put back on it and have been on it since oct. 1 2007. I bruise a lot and the injections burn for sometimes 20 or so minutes. Seems to be getting worse since Im doing injection on top of injection! I have take over 240 shots so far. and I have at least 4 months left (may) if the CT comes back clear of clots this time
Open Acne
I have had acne for years. I finaly got it under control though BC. But I can no longer take it because it caused a blood clot in my lungs.
Treatments
- Benzoyl Peroxide Not Working
- Allergic to it
- Tetracycline Not Working
- allergic to it
- Oral Contraceptives Somewhat Helpful
- Cleared up my acne but caused a blood clot so I can no longer take it obviously since I had a life threatening reaction

I have had some miserable migraines and a friend of mine suggested eliminating gluten and I haven't had a migraine since.

- Wow it really has helped me. My migraines are better and I feel better everyday. I have only been on the diet 2 weeks!!
Open Asthma
Type: Exercise-Induced AsthmaJust diagnosed with activity induced asthma.
Treatments
- Accolate Somewhat Helpful
- Advair Somewhat Helpful
- It helped with some with asthma symptoms but caused severe thrush, so I had to get off of it . Actually I still have thrush and I have had it for almost 3 weeks and it won't go away!
- Singulair Not Working
- Symbicort Somewhat Helpful
- It took all of my asthma symptoms away! Only thing is it caused severe muscle pain. I couldn't walk with out excruciating pain. So doc took me off it.
