My husband and I are very discouraged, but we keep praying that it (getting preg.) will happen. I haven't really been …
Well I hit the 29 week mark with the twins and so far so good minus the gestational diabetes. I managed to get the diabetes under control so far without insulin and just by taking a pill 2x a day. Here is the dilema that I am now running into with my employer. I stopped working on 4/24 under my Ob's orders because of the diabetes and my hectic work schedule. I spoke to my HR at work and was told to fill out 1 form with my expected Maternity leave which i put for the 2nd week of July. When i spoke to them before I left, we discussed that I was going under short term disability through Aflac (which i pay for every check) and then once the babies arrive starting my maternity leave. I was told there were no papers to fill out for maternity and the only form need was my expected maternity leave dates. Well last Friday, I noticed a check from my employer that was direct deposited. I was confused as I filled out all the paper work for Aflac and was under the assumption that I was not receiving anything from my employer until the babies are here. I called a supervisor whom I also considered a friend (yeah right) and was told oh yeah, After you went out Kerri (another coworker who is due 2 weeks before I am) wanted to take disability 2 weeks prior to her due date and then start maternity leave.. There is a huge difference between her and I . She is having 1 baby and no problems at all with her pregnancy. I am having 2 babies and have been having complications (diabetes) and I also have almost a hour and a half drive one way to work (she does not), which my ob said that will have to stop.So anyway, I find out that the day I left (4/24) started my maternity leave with my employer, however they did not bother to even tell me this at all! So along I thought I was on disability and I am not! Basically my maternity leave will be up before the babies are even born!.. I feel like they really screwed me over with this big time. I have been there for almost 4 years so its not like im new or something..
Well today my supervisors called me and left a message. They want me to work from home, doing clerical work for them, which I think is unfair as I was told by my OB to stop working! They tried telling me that this will help prolong my maternity leave. How can they do this?? I feel like they are discriminating against me and its not right. I did contact the labor board and according to them I have 12 weeks (unpaid ) under FMLA for them to hold my job. Im at my wits end and just about to tell them where to go. Basically what they are saying is that if I do not work from home, I will have to return when maternity leave is up, which by that point I will be ready to pop. If anyone has any advise it will greatly be appreciated. Please do not write back with rude comments or snide remarks, as that is the main reason why I have not been on here that much.
SOrry for rambling on and Thanks for taking the time to read and send advice!

I know I just wrote an entry but I feel absolutely terrible. I am 24 years old and I am praying all the time. Not …
I am feeling a little better today. I hope to feel even better as the day goes on. I have been praying all morning …
Nicole- check with your aflec rep, you might be able to collect that when you out after having the babies. It might depend on what coverage you have so you'll need to check. I know that the one girl in my office (which we are tiny) resently applied for aflec so when she does get pregnant in the future she will get paid through aflec when she has the baby as our office doesn't even offer maternity leave. I know a good rep if you need to call and bounce stuff off of him...let me know if you need his name/#. He is in the doylestown area but I am sure you could call him.
Good luck- you are right though, it is crappy of them to do this to you.

That is horrible,,, I hope they can fix that, because its unfair. Try talking with the HR person and if that dont work get advice from a lawyer like you said this sounds like descrimination

O Wow i am sorry your going threw this!
I am shocked that they expect you to come back when your going to be still pregnant an rdy to give birth. I mean rlly what the heck are they thinking. The only thing i can think of is get some legal advice. There is no way they can do this. If nothing else works i would just quit. They would leave you no choice. An they should know you would pick your babies over their stupid job. Maybe you can check to see if there is a law where if a doctor says you need to stop working the job has no choice but to listen? Idk i am sorry i wish i could help more! GL hun i hope you can figure this out an make it work for you!!

I didn't know that someone could actually do that. I'm sorry that you are going through this. I would say to talk to a lawyer and to call aflac. talk to a rep from there to find out if there is anything they can do. I hope that this all works our for you hunny.
