I've been on Sandostatin since last November, shortly after I was diagosed with small cell neuroendocrince carcinoma. I'd thought I had the flu, but after a month of running a fever of 101-102 every night for over a month, my family doc put me in the hospital for tests, and found the tumors. I have them in my pancreas, liver and several lumph nodes. I have not had any pain until recently, but sure do now! Its around my rib cage, with the worst being under my right arm (liver area, right?) and the center of my upper back, like between my shoulder blades. Also fatique has gotten much worse this past month, and now the evening fevers are back. (They completely disappeared after I began the Sandostatin). My family doc sent me for another CT scan last week and told me yesterday the tumor in the pancreas is getting larger.. how much I don't know. He wanted me to call my Onocologist (Blue Ridge Cancer Center in Roanoke VA) asap, but first appt. I can get is Sept.8th, so guess I'm in suspense (and misery) until then..:-( I, too, was told the Sandostatin was really my only option, but I've been reading some "survivor stories" on some of the Carcinoid sites recently, and saw where a woman had 20 (!) tumors removed from her liver! So I'm going to ask when I do see the doc, why can't you send me to somewhere like UVA or the National Cancer Institute in Md., and find a surgeon who will try to get the damn things OUT! Thanks for the opp to "vent" to someone who can identify, this is such a rare thing. My Onocologist says he's been practicing 30 yrs., and only had 4 patients with NETS. Hope you are doing better and your pain improves. Judi in VA

May God bless you and keep you in perfect peace. Here are some encouraging healing bible verses to uplift you. Remember, faith moves mountains and you can get through anything in the name of Jesus. Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. Psalm 103:3-4 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Matthew 8:14-17 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
