wtf Mood
Tuesday, September 23, 2008 | A Venting story

I used to pay 53$ for my birth control pills.  Then the price went up to 67$ a month.

Then I got insurance (woohoo) and they went down to 35$ a month.

4 months ago, they dropped down to 14$ a month.

I got them refilled last night and they cost me 50$!!!!!

WTF is up with that?

I checked a current listing from the insurance company and they are still a Class 3 medication, so that hasn't changed.  (I'm honestly surprised they cover it at all....)  Class 1 and 2 are the cheapest, class 3 and 4 are the most expensive with bluecross/blueshield.  But since it hasn't jumped classes that I can recall, I don't understand the fluctation in pricing this year.

No real generic available for the Loestrin 24fe yet that I can find, so I'm thinking about asking the ob/gyn to put me back on a traditional 21/7 pack (instead of the 24/4 pack I'm on now) of something with a generic cuz I can't afford all the pills I have to take a month now.
