I did my friend's funeral today. He was 95 years old, and old Navy veteran from World War 2. He and I had became great friends the past 2 years. He was a sweet little man and I was so priviledge to know him, to visit with him and to listen to his many stories. He had became a special friend and we had many prayers together and the greatest priviledge was to lead Short to Christ and see the difference in his life. I would visit him in the hospital and at the nursing home. Short was never married nor was his brother. They lived together till short's brother passed away then short couldn't live alone after a few years.
I received many compliments from those friends who attended. He had no family left. He was the last one of 5 brothers and 3 sisters. After my message, they had the Military Rites from the American Legion and he would have been proud and pleased.
After their service was completed, I walked up to his casket and bid my old friend a farewell, till I see him again in Heaven.

you care so deeply about people. if just half the people in the world cared like you image what this world would be like?

I know I should send condolences but you already know your friend is with Jesus...no need to feel sorry for anyone in Heaven...and God, in His mercy, gave him 95 years to come to Him. In Christ, Dale...Brandon's Mom

What a glorious satisfied feeling you must have, just knowing that because of your devotion to our Lord and your friend, you will meet again! God has Blessed you so much with your gifts! Still, I know the sadness attached to losing someone you care about and for that, my friend, tight-tight hugs! Judy

its like my pastor said, it's not good-bye it is see ya later! I love those and hate them. Don't make sense huh? I love it for the men deserve it and are honorered justifiably but hate it cause it makes me cry the deepest of tears. We are an military family, but only lost one (Iraq). He got military honors, the first silver or gold star since nam. Google him Sgt. Joesph E. Proctor of New whiteland Ind. That is my nephew and hero.
