Jigsaw puzzles, gardening, good music, playing with my grdson, and the power of faith!!! Also coin collecting, watching the bird's at our feeder. Swimming pool replaced the deer.

Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Type: Seconday Progressive MSDx in '87 at 27 yrs. old after optic neuritis in right eye. Severe enough to cause damage to optic nerve, blurry but usable. Did well until '98 & started falling alot. Been in a whlchr since Mar '99.
Treatments
- Baclofen Working / Worked
- Been on it for so many yrs., I couldn't say just how long! Helped but spasticity getting worse. On 5 a day 20mg.
- Copaxone Too Soon to Tell
- Doing well with it, 7 months now. No problems.
- Cytoxan Not Working
- Started in Jan., had 2 so far, hopeful it will work, I think trmnt is for 6 month's, once a month.
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- traded this for cymbalta, it helped...but didn't like the weight gain
- Marinol Too Soon to Tell
- New dr. is up to date on trmnt's, suggested medicinal marijuania, didn't want to smoke again so trying this for sleep and spasticity at night.
- Prozac Working / Worked
- traded this for cymbalta, which benefits nervce pain too.
- Solumedrol Not Working
- Had 2 trtmt's 5 day's at home, no difference. Getting with cytoxen, hopeful. Other than lack of sleep, and pinging off the wall's about a week no problem's. Caused weight gain.
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Discontinued lyrica, & prozac for this. Seems to help both nerve pain, & any depression that could be there.
Close Menopause
I think I've started menopause in Aug 06 even tho' my period's stopped in '03 due to chemo trtmnt's for M.S. Hot flashes, insomnia, & mood swings were awful.
Treatments
- Black Cohosh Working / Worked
- Seemed to help, took for short time & read it can be harmful to your liver, so I discontinued it. Wanted to go the natural way, so I'm dealing with it.
- Estroven Somewhat Helpful
- Like the cohosh, took a short time & discontnued it. Contains cohosh. Gyn suggested both since other's can cause blood clots & I'm in a whlchr.
Open Back Pain
Had a very bad fall in '90 while in Cuba. Never went for trtmnt until I couldn't get up while washing the floor. Told it was facet joint syndrome. Saw orthopedic in '98, needed surgery for a herniation L4/5. Recently found out severe disc degeneration L4/5, moderate in other's & some involvement in cervical.
Treatments
- Fioricet Working / Worked
- Took while in Cuba for chronic pain.
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- Took for awhile until pain became unbearable!
- Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Went thru trtmnt & did seem to help, but hard to keep up.
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- Took for several year's, did numb the pain. Discontinued just this past summer by weaning off 100mg 2x a day. Couldn't stand being a zombie!!!!!!!!!!
- Clonazepam Working / Worked
- Helped for sleep, DR had me on 3 x a day, 3 at bedtime! Like the oxycontin, weaned myself off-zombie status!!!
