I knew going into this that the real estate market was bad, but hoped I had fate on my side since my neigbor truly wants my house. At this point it seems she doesn't want to pay what we are asking, and since we have to get enough to pay off the loans, we are at an impass. There are still negotiations to go through, but it doesn't look like I will make it to AZ any time soon.
I have not really gotten any of the projects completed either, since weather, plumbing issues and other expenses have postponed these things. I still hope to get moving on some of the small repairs as soon as possible.
I still have hope that things will work out eventually, but I need to press on and do what I can to make this happen. In the meantime I need to fortify my mental strength since I will be facing at least one more brutal Chicago winter.

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. What has made you and your partner decide on Arizona?

Well, the Chicago winters are not very pleasant...we love the heat, sun and outdoors. Last winter nearly did me in, so it is just time. I don't want to wait until I am elderly and retired to move there...I want to experience the weather, sun and beauty while I still have the energy to enjoy it fully, lol

Have you been to Arizona? Sedona is so beautiful. It is milder weather. There are mountains surround the valley, made out of red rock. They name them because the resemble thinks, like Snoopy! There is also a natural water slide. It's a short drive to the Grand Canyon. So beautiful! Make a dream board (if you have time) and put some pictures of where you'll be living. It helps to focus and when you write things down they happen. Even write down what you want from the sale of your house. You'll get exactly what you need. Just hang in there. They probably want to use the winter as leverage to get you down. They want the cheapest deal they can get. But, if they want it bad enough... they'll keep at it. Don't rush! Arizona will be here! I'm right next door in California.

And by the way... you are only 40 for God's sake! Long way from elderly!!!!
PepperChristine
Haha...I know I am not elderly yet - that's exactly why I want to go now. I agre they are taking advantage of the market and the season so I will wait. I know how badly she wants my house. Hell, she asked me to sell it to her two years ago when we weren't even thinking about moving. I still believe I have the upper hand, it's just a matter of waiting it out. I just didn't want to see any more snow. Oh well...

You will definitely enjoy Arizona..it's definitely a beautiful state. Hopefully you are able to sell your house soon and make the move.

Stay cheered and grab your wool blankie. Put on a cap and gloves and bundle like a baby. Dream of ridiculously dry heat that sucks the moisture out of your face and brings the wrinkles of charactor ;P
Iroam
Good plan Iroam!! Haha...I will crawl into my blankie and stay there til April!

You know you have, so you know you can. Let us know if we can help. Maybe a mesquite log sent via UPS to throw in the fireplace every now and then. Then again, the UPS driver might "lose" it and stay warm herself! LOL!
