Yes they have died, but i think when doen right, they are used in what is called a 'poppery,' or something likeh that. supposed to smell really good or something. some people (my mom useded to do it) dry flowers out to keep them in journals and such.
Just because they are dead my friend. does not mean that they loose their beauty or a purpose for that mattter.
