Cameron arrived yesterday at 4:17 pm/ Both Cathy and baby are doing great. Cameron is a bit of a "light weight" weighing in at an even six pounds. Boy is he tiny! He is 19 inches long. He was early by 11 days and was delivered early because of Cathy's gestational diabetes. She kept her sugars under great control, but because she was using insulin, they didn't want to chance having the placenta stop working. According to the OB that may have been happening since he is so small. They did testing twice a week for the past month to assure that the outcome would be a good one, but nothing is fool-proof as we all know. Cathy's labor was pretty fast. We thought it was going to drag out for a lot longer since after four hours she was only at 4cm and the baby was still pretty high. Well that all changed fast...she went from 4 cm to fully dilated in less than an hour, pushed about 2 or 3 times and there was Cameron! No one was more shocked than the doctor. Said he never saw anything like it. Cathy said it was a breeze this time around. So glad it's over. I'm TOO OLD for all the drama. They are staying in the hospital an extra night so they can continue to observe Cameron and make sure that his insulins levels are ok. Cathy is having a hard time being away from Brayden since this is their first ever separation. He is doing great though. He has been a wonderful boy through the whole labor and delivery. He was right there with us the whole time. Cathy did a wonderful job of preparing him for what was to take place. During the actual delivery he kept pretty busy on my laptop and I made sure he wasn't able to see what was going on. Once Cameron was born and crying...that was the end of the laptop for a while. Brayden was in awe of his little baby brother and so sweet and loving to his mommy. It was priceless. I was skeptical about having him there for the delivery, but Cathy insisted that she wanted him included. After witnessing it, I have to agree. It may have been different under other circumstances, but Cathy was very quiet and focused through the whole labor and delivery and there was nothing to frighten an almost three year old. So...having a new grandson will be another blessing for me. I just wish I were a bit younger and had more energy for two boys!!!! Hope you are all well. Hugs to all of you.

This is the best news I've heard in a while... Congratulations to you all!

Oh yes can't wait to see pics! What an absolute joy to be right there when Cameron was born......so sweet about Brayden. My daughter has her other kids come into the bedroom right AFTER the baby arrives every time. Our 4th will be here around Nov. 22nd.....Julia Danae......it'll be another home birth in a birthing pool. I know how you feel being "too old" for all of this! For the first time tomorrow I'll be baby sitting Amber, Caleb & James all at the same time by myself! Oh Lord give me strength. God bless you all.....what a wonder to have a new baby in the family. hugs

Congratulations my dear friend. I'm sorry that I've been so long getting on here. Every time I try my computer gets stuck going from page to page on here. As always you were there where you were needed. I'm proud of you. Especially, keeping Cameron busy on your lap top. Good thinking! He saw all he needed to see and that was his new baby brother and his glowing mommy. Nice experience and memories for all...
God bless you my dear girl. You're a star!
