About Me
I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease approximately 26 years ago. I have tried every known drug to no avail. I had a few years of remission due to pregnancies and lactation. Now at 49, I am only on probiotics and am now in peri-menopause (hot flashes, mood swings, etc.) To top it all off, I am depressed because I can't hold down a job. I had my first surgery end of February, and it was a disaster. I have spent the last three months going back into the hospital for weeks at a time. They do not know why I'm in so much pain, nor why we can't get the runs to stop. I have recently starting going to Cedar's Senai in Los Angeles to get answers.

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I was diagnosed with crohn's disease in my early 20's. I'm now in my late 40's and suffer daily. I have tried everything and am now on Humira. If this doesn't work, I will consider having surgery. I did have surgery on 2-28-08. Don't wait as long as I did.
Treatments
- Asacol Not Working
- This drug did nothing whatsoever.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Difficult but I do without popcorn. I take beano whenever I eat beans and veggies (especially cabbage.)
- Azathioprine Not Working
- Azulfidine Not Working
- Entocort Not Working
- I became a manaic and wanted to kill people. I do not suggest this for long term.
- Flagyl Not Working
- Massage Working / Worked
- You owe this to yourself. It relaxes your body, and it does make it easier to cope.
- Physical Exercise Working / Worked
- You need to exercise, but especially after being diagnosed.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- This of course has serious side affects and must be used with caution.
- Probiotics Working / Worked
- Have been on for the past month, have not noticed anything.
- Remicade Somewhat Helpful
- I have SOOOOO many side effects I had to go off of this. I had trouble breathing, rashes, extreme fatigue, joint pain. I do have a different crohn's pattern now. I'm not getting "blocks" so it helped a bit, but the chronic everyday pain hasn't changed (or the trapped gas.)
- Humira Not Working
- This wont help if you have too much scar tissue.
