    • About Me

I am a college student trying to pursue a Nursing degree. I graduated from high school in 2005. I worked in a group home with mentally handicapped elderly people for about 1 1/2 years until just recently. It was a great learning and growing experience. I made a huge leap and moved to a really big city (something I told myself I would NEVER do). I am now working in an Alzheimer's Lock-down unit. It's been really rough, but I am sure I will learn lots. I already have some pretty crazy stories! I have 2 sisters ages 20 and 13. I have a very special kitty that has been a part of my life for 17 years. She is my best friend.

      From Ginny1954 Wednesday

Our wedding was only simple but colorful. I wore a beige gown with fall colored bouquet. We had about 50 people in attendance. The ceremony was very meaningful and we both declared to God to always put him first in our life. Later when I get moved and have the time I'm going to post some wedding photos on DS. Take care and praying you'll get your life straighen out soon and live stress free. God Bless, Keep in touch. Bear Hugs, G

    • Close Arnold-Chiari Malformation

I was diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation in June 2007 after struggling with dibilitating headaches (and other related issues) since June of 2006. Doctors believe that it is not my problem.

      Treatments

      Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
It didn't help at all. As a matter of fact, I personally would not reccommend it to anyone. I saw 2 different Chiropractors. I always hurt worse afterwards, and it seems as though the headaches got worse once I started seeing them.
    • Close Anxiety

I had been treated only for depression until just recently when my new Psych diagnosed Anxiety.

      Treatments

      Ativan Working / Worked
It helped me to sleep the few times I took it.Got scared of the possibilty of forming an addiction to it,so stopped taking it.
      BuSpar Not Working
It caused me to have seizures
      Hypnotherapy Not Working
I was a little taken aback when one of my recent counselors tried this.It only made me more uncomfortable.
      Inderal Not Working
I was given this for my headaches. It didn't work.
      Klonopin Working / Worked
It works well, but I need an increase in the dosage and # of times I can take it during the day.
      Lexapro Working / Worked
I used to take this a couple years ago.Tried to take it again after being off of it for about 6 months. It kept me up at night and didn't help with the depression.
      Positive Thinking Considering
This is a hard thing for me to master.I am the oldest child: this means that I try to be a perfectionist,so it can get pretty stressful at times.I think I expect too much of myself.
      Zoloft Too Soon to Tell
Started taking this about a month ago. It seems to be helping to keep me from going over the edge, but I am now up to 100mg a day and I think it's keeping me up at night.
    • Open Chronic Pain

I have been dealing with chronic neck/shoulder pain ever since I can remember. I am not sure why other than the fact that I seem to be so tense all the time. I won't take muscle relaxers anymore as my body tends to become dependant on them. I just wish I could not be so tense.

      Treatments

      Baclofen Not Working
      Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
      This made me hurt worse.
      Cymbalta Not Working
It was for my depression, didn't do anything for the pain.
      Flexeril Working / Worked
This helps but, I have to take it a lot and it makes me tired. Helps me to sleep.
      Heat Somewhat Helpful
I use this a lot to try and calm my tense muslces. Sometimes it works.
      Hydrocodone Not Working
This stuff doesn't do crap for me anymore. I had way too many surgeries and don't respond to many pain killers.
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
Sometimes this helps me to get to sleep at night. I concentrate on my breaths. Try to make it to 100, but most of the time, I don't.
      Morphine Not Working
      It gives me horrible headaches.
      Naproxen Not Working
I have been using this for a really long time now. I am starting to worry that it is hurting my stomach. About 2 hours after I take it, I feel like I have been punched in the gut.
      Oxycodone Not Working
Gave me seizures/jerks and nightmares. Will never use again.
      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
It helps when I am doing it, but then I just tense right back up again.
      TENS Working / Worked
I LOVE TENS, but unfortunately, cannot afford it.
      Topamax Not Working
I was on this for headaches. It didn't seem to do anything but give me tingly hands and feet.
    • Open Migraine Headaches

Chronic daily headaches due to Pseudotumor Cerebri.

    • Open Pseudotumor Cerebri

YAY! I am so excited that there is finally a PTC group! I started suffering from symptoms 2 1/2 to 3 years ago. It has been a mess from the get-go. That is the shortened version. Ask me if you want to know more.

    • Open Food Addiction

I am not very overweight, yet. I find that I turn to food when I am bored, anxious, mad...pretty much all the time. If I don't become full when I eat, I am not satisfied. I have been diagnosed with Insulin Resistance, so I have been trying to change my eating habits, but as they say, "Old habits die hard."

    • Open Vegetarians & Vegans
      Type: Vegan

I am joining this support group, because it is my goal to become a Vegan. It is going to take some time...a long time as I am in a living situation with people who won't allow me to be a vegetarian in their home. I have started by cutting down on the amount of dairy and meat products that I would normally consume. Doesn't seem like much now, but at least I am making some effort.

    • Open Back Pain

I broke my back at work. Compression fracture at T10-T11 and a chunk/crack in my T10. Thought that I might join this group since I have heard that these things never really heal very well. I will definitely need support.

      Treatments

      Heat Working / Worked
      Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
      Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
      Relaxation Somewhat Helpful
