  Hi Sheryl, Just checking in on you to see how you're doing? My son's trial ended on 4/17/09. It didn't turn out very well. He has 18 charges against him and only a few turned out o.k. I think I'm still in shock over the Jury's verdicts. I'm still going to NarAnon and I think it's helped me a lot. I've been going to the meetings since May 08'. I sometimes think that we must have made some type of mistake while we raised out son. He's always been a good kid, did good in school, etc. Of course everyone tells me that they are sure we were good parents and they (our kids) are the ones who made bad choices.   Hi Sheryl, Just looked at your profile. Do you live in Las Vegas? My husband, son and I have lived in LV since 1994. I'm sorry that your daughter went back to drugs and is in trouble again. I read this new book that came out last year called "Addiction." I checked the book out from the library. It really made me understand how addiction gets a hold of people and how it is so hard to resist the drug/drugs. My son had to detox in jail and says he'll never do drugs again. I told him that I'm sure he believes that but I think with addiction that it's something you have to fight everyday, every hour and maybe every minute. We don't know yet how much time he'll have to serve and he's our only child too. I'm sure you know what I mean when I say that it breaks our hearts to see what has happened to him and the feeling that we're so helpless and can't help him out of this mess. Since Steven has been in the Clark County Detention Center (actually he was put in the Henderson Detention Center first on May 10th and has been in the County Det Center since July 5th) I've been going to NarAnon meetings. I live in the Southeast part of town so the meetings are on Monday nights. There is another group meeting on the North side of town (forgot which day/days the meetings are there. The meetings have helped me a lot. It lets you know that other people are going through or have gone through a lot of stuff too. My son, Steven, has a trial date that suppose to start on Dec. 15th. We're still hoping that the Dist Attorney will offer him a deal and that it won't go to trial. We'll see what happens. My husband isn't handling this very well plus my husband has started a new job so the combo of both is a lot of stress on him. Keep me updated on what's happening with you daughter.
