2 year old, loses arm, in farm accident. Mood
Friday, August 28, 2009 | A Tragic story

OMG

At 3:10pm this afternoon, Richard had just left with the car,

when the phone rang, it was my daughter in law Tina,

James my son's wife.

She was crying, saying that there was an accident.

I asked her immediately, not Richard since he had just left.

My son lives on the top of the next hill, here not far from my home.

Like I can see the big Farm where he lives, from my home.

Anyways, she proceeded telling me,

that my son had just came in, in shock,

the 2 year old son of his boss, where he was doing the chores,

in the barn, had just got his arm caught in the big fan at the end of the barn.

The mother was also working in the barn, and the toddler was walking around I guess.

You know those farmers, never think that farm accident can ever happened to their own, but in this case, it did.

My son lives in the maternal home of these good people who owns the big farm and the surrounding fields around the area, on the opposite side of my road.

Anyways, the parents didn't wait for the ambulance, they grabbed the kid,

and the arm and left for the nearest hospital,

where they air lifted the child, to the Ste Justine Children Hospital

in Montreal, Quebec.

This is an absolute tragedy.

My Richard just came back from work, and had called JP the father of the child, to see if he needed him to go and help my son and the young guy, Jason,

who saw the young boy stuck in the fan.

So it's probably a family member who answered the cell phone,

so he offered to help at the farm

and for JP to call him back, but Richard is already gone to see my son

at the farm.

I should get an update soon.

Will keep you posted.

Please say a prayer for this young innocent child.

I've lite up a candle here,

and we are praying that they will be able to re-attached his arm.

Thank you,

Mckenzie

One day at the time.

ps: James my son saw his best friend burnt to 98% of his body, with fourth & fifth degree burns when a fire broke lose in 1995.

His friend, whom had lived with us for the past 5 years of his life.

They had just moved into their own appartments in a building, the month before, when on the 26th of December, the day the fire occured.

My now ex husband didn't want either of us, James my son, and I to go see him in the Grand Bruler in Montreal,

a hospital for burnt victim.

JY had no more skin, he was burnt to the muscles.

No more hair, ears, fingers, he was not recognisable.

41 days later, we both decided against my ex husband's orders, to go and see him.

The next morning at 7am, he passed away.

The RN had told us that he could hear us, as long as we spoke very loud.

He followed us with his blue eyes, in his hospital room.

He was laying in a hamack.

He had turned 20 years old during his last 42 days in the hospital.

I guess he just wanted to make sure that my son, his best friend,

James had not parished in the fire,

 that cold cold December morning,

in 1995.

I hope my son is ok, Richard is with him now, finishing the work

at his bosses farm.

Thanks for letting me vent away, we are all very much affected about his tragic episode.

Oh how very sad Mack! What a nightmare for those parents. They positive side is he is young enough to learn to compensate for any limitations this might give him. Poor child.

Why these things happen to young innocents are beyond my understanding. It's almost to much for the mind to encompass. I will say a prayer for the wee one and for your son. Hopefully, this will not trigger any PTSD issues for him. That is a lot to take in for everyone, the parents and most certainly your son.

    Hugs
    Cindy

Oh how sad, Something similar happened to my best friend. Her cousin was working on the farm and both his lets got caught in one of the machinery. He was 10, lost both his legs, still works on the farm many years later. Kids do seem to adapt very well. My heart goes out to them and their son. I hope all goes well and they are able to reattach his arm. please keep us posted

Richard came back at 2am, from doing the evening chores with my son at the place where the child was hurt.
They have a big quota of milking cows, and Richard took the weekend off, especially to go work there in the place of the child's father.
JP the child's father called to give some news to my richard, the child is in the operating room, and the operation is extimated to last 22 hours.
Thanks to all those who pray for this young child, and parents.

My prayers go out to all mentioned and especially to you the goddess of nurture.
I pray for you especially you are a light to those who flounder in the darkness, they see your lovely light before the cross over. What a gift. Thank you for hearing your calling and following it. It takes a special breed. How lucky we are to have you.

  15. Mckenzie

Wonderful news, your prayers as help tremendously, I'm positive about that....
The surgery was a success, it took 20 hours, along with 5 specialists, and just as many nurses, and the child pulled through with flying colours.
    Now the waiting time.
They told the parents that within 2 weeks if not infection, the re-attachement should be successful.
My son was saying that when he took off his belt, not realising that it was way to big, to do a tourniquet with it, that the arm was right off from the shoulder.
So the only thing the mother could do was to apply as much pressure as possible on the wound.
The amr it self was not too cut, only 3 places it needed stitches, and all other nerves were there to re-attach without complications.
This is one strong young warrior we've got there.
So thank you muchly for all those who took the time to lite up a cnadle and pray for this beautiful child.
    Thank you soo much... Mckenzie

Well things aren't looking so good as of last night.
As you all know, my Richard is working w, at JP's farm until he can come home, they figure about a month.
So every night after he is done at his work, he goes and work at JP/s farm.
They had the child in a induce coma, in order for the surgery to heal without the child moving ect...
But last night, the grand father of the child, told Richard, things weren't looking so good, his little fingers are getting black.
Since the arm was totally cut off from the shoulder it is very dangerous that the cangerine goes into his body, to top it off, it's the right arm, so the side of his little heart.
Will keep you posted my dear friends, we need to continue those prayers, thanks.
