About Me
Without the love of God and Jesus Christ my Saviour I would never make it through and would not be where I am today. Also If I did not have my children to keep me going I would probably just give up trying to cope at all and just go ahead and let the negative feelings take over. My other family members are wonderful too. My mother even joined this group for me to help me find help. I have been dx with lupus for thirteen years and have just been dx with firbromalgia. I am 39 years old and have two children 17 and 18. My best friend, Father, confidant, and the person who is always there for me is Jesus he never fails me and helps me remember how blessed I am to have my beautiful children and the rest of my family.

^ THE PICTURE I AM USING AS MY DISPLAY PICTURE IS OF MY BEAUTIFUL (inside and out)17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I don't have any pics of me -- I hate taking pictures. I also added a picture of my handsome(also inside and out) 18 year old son and his Boo Boo (his Great Grandma). He's like me and doesn't like pictures of himself so I promised not to use him in my main picture lol. I love to paint ceramics and pottery but I have to be careful because if I over do it my neck and shoulders will kill me. I also love to read and making gift baskets for friends and family. Oh, yeah I am also "addicted" to reality shows. I generally love to give to other people because it helps me cope with my illnesses and I believe that it feeds our spirit to give to others. I try very hard to keep a positive attitude and just believe that God is always there to talk to and get me through what I wouldn't be able to on my own.

Close Fibromyalgia
Anyway, I am hoping to make some really good friends to share our experiences with because let's face it we really do understand better than anyone and with God's guidance and love we will all get through whatever we have to face.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- This medicine is working so well for me. I have less fibro pain and it has helped me with feelings of depression and anxiety as well. I like it because I just feel like my old self again before the disease took over. I would try it because it has been great for me so far.
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- It soothes my lower back but does not get rid of the pain. Also I have caused these broken blood vessells and discoloration on my back that looks awful.
Close Lupus
Dear fellow warriors, I have been dx with lupus for thirteen years and have never fully been taken off prednisone. The lowest dose I have ever been on is 10mg which never seems to last very long. Usually, when I am lucky, I can sometimes go for about 3 weeks on a lower dose and then the symptoms start. I don't want to end on a downer so I can't really finish my story lol. You can probably relate. I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Treatments
- Azathioprine Somewhat Helpful
- Only took it for a short time at the beginning of my disease so not too sure how effective it would be now. No side effects
- Cellcept Working / Worked
- Have taking now for a couple of months and with God's help so far has kept me from having a flare. At first had bad nausea and stomach pains but not as bad now.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Always works but it cost me a hip replacement in my left hip in 2001, makes me gain weight like crazy, I look nothing like I used to, my hair thinning, I have the moon face, hump, big torso, burning in my calves, blurred vision, etc. But it also saves my life and without it I wouldn't be here for my children so it is a blessing and a curse-- but mostly a blessing because I love being here for my children and I love them so much.
