Dear Lindamae, I'm sorry that I haven't responded to your wonderful hug any sooner. I'm still at work, doing the "superwoman" thing only because I have meetings today that I've called. But I'm really only half-here. I think if I got some decent sleep I'd be doing better.

Your boss's remarks sound like something my supervisor might say. She is the classic overachiever who works 60 - 80 hour weeks and is happy if others do the same. Yesterday was one of our busiest days of the year - international student orientation. It's always very difficult and only a couple of us have the skill set necessary to handle it well. I ended up feeling so awful that I left at 3:00 PM. Then when I got home, I still felt terrible and couldn't sleep at all. I really don't want to sound like a whiner but I sure think I do. We do deserve to have our "whines" I'm sure. I wish something would start working - like sleep or bowels (just the basics that even babies do). I guess I expected not to be knocked so low, so quickly. Last time with chemo I dealt with critical illness myopathy and couldn't even move. Being able to move I guess is a good thing but right now it's hard to tell much difference :(. Okay - enough whining - I hope your beesting is better and you are overall improving. That's one thing I've learned from listening to everyone is the pit isn't forever during these treatments. Well, I'll see if I can get a little work done (like make a syllabus for my classes next week.) Much love, Janet

Don't you worry, Lindamae. God will be with you and the angels are by your side. You are going to get through this and WIN! Fight it with all your might and NEVER EVER GIVE UP.

    Much love & hugs,

Just saw hug from you in my hugbook - I haven't been too verbal since Bruce's Dad's passing, followed shortly after by the stillbirth of Bruce's niece's first baby (at age 39). We all gave permission to have her buried above his Dad in same space. Now the focus is on the house sale and keeping the peace between the two sil's - 1 in NJ, 1 in VT. Ugh...hard to focus to write much and extra stress to manage from all of the NJ events. And then there is MY family - can't even go there. So thank you for the hug! Needed that!

Hi Lindamae, I'm sending you a hug and some sunshine in the hopes that the cloud lifts over your emotional state. Go wear those new shoes, maybe that will bring a smile to your face! And surely, seeing your grandkids soon will lift your spirits. Have faith, we are all here for you - xxxx LuEllen

Hi Lindamae, Yes, it's been a difficult transition but those of you who have already done it are models for me. Don't feel selfish because what we do for each other is something no one who has not walked in our shoes can really do or truly understand. My chemo took all day but went well. Funny after weeks and weeks of sleep trouble, I slept almost the entire afternoon despite all the noises in the clinic. Right now I'm fairly tired but may try to go into work a little. I think I can sit at the computer or talk to students. I'm heeding your advice to not overdo it about working. It definitely is not worth my life. Unfortunately I carry our health insurance since it is so much cheaper and better than my husband's carrier. I grew up the daughter of "martyr mom" a wonderful lady who never thought of herself first. I was formed by that modeling but I'm not going there anymore. It's worse, though, because I work for the daughter of another "martyr mom" and I definitely am going to quite emulating her pattern. She has a leadership style of "do as I do" which is work 60 to 80 hour weeks. I truly hope your mood is climbing out of the depths. I find when I'm alone too long I get far more reflective for my own good. I've let my family know this so they are better about calling me now. Thank you for being such a good friend, Much love, Janet

i have been hearing about your record breaking temps up there. Than goodness for A/C. We have been in the high 90's. There had been scattered showers all around Houston, but none by my house. It is like there is a Vortex over my house. We need the rain so bad. Glad to hear you had a good Dr. visit. Hope you are feeling well. Love and hugs, Anita

I know what you mena. Frank bought it for me. If it weren't for that, I would be computerless. It is really nice. I love it. He has to get all the stuff off my hard drive and put it on the new one. Glad he knows how to do that. I certainly don't Ha ha. Love ya. Anita

  • Good Luck

    Lindaheff (07/25/09)

    Dear Lindamae
Sending some good luck your way for Monday`s CA125 results. However, we must try to remember that it`s only a value and the bottom line is how you feel. I`m so happy to hear that you`ll be going to Florida, whether you`re a homeowner or renter. It will probably give you a new lease on life and feel like a constant vacation. Lots of love and strength.
    xxLinda
