Sarah, my daughter, was beaten by her husband last night - he smashed the phone and threw it in the canal by their apartment, so she has no phone to use - I know they have no food or money. He tried to kill himself, so when the cops got there they took him off to the VA hospital in Phoenix.
Her quote was that she gave as good as she got, which tells me she is hurt. Gavin, my grandson, was not injured, though seeihg such a thing must be terrifying to him.
I have placed a call to the Victims Rights office of the Atty General in AZ and left a message to please call me. I only hope they do.
If there is anyone who lives in teh Phoenix/Mesa area, please message me - I need to have someone check on her and make sure she is stable, and that the injuries are documented, that she has access to an agency that will get her to food and some small bit of money - she has no ID - he wouldn't let her get a driver's license, and allowed her military ID to expire - he was in the Army - so she has no way to get even Western Union cash, if I even had any to send her. We have $10 - period.
I am just beside myself - please, somebody, HELP!!!

I wish I were where I could go and check on her, but I am not much closer than you are. Could she go to the VA? Or the VFW? They have emergency funds for families.

I'm so sorry - I've been in her situation and was blessed with friends who helped me to get out when I was ready.
About Western Union - they used to allow you to send money with a password to pick it up if someone didn't have ID - it allowed a person who needed money because they had lost their wallet to pick up the money without ID. Check into that - not sure whether they still do it or not but it's a question to ask.
