I've had TN/Atypical facil pain 7 yrs.2 MVD's(Peter Jannetta)1 MCS (Ken Casey)-06 severe staph infection.Removed in Pittsburgh 2 mths later.Dr. Bennett Blumenkopf will be installing another early 08. Disabled to TN almost 4 yrs. Divorced.Don't date due to guilt of illness.Looking for great guy w/TN who can relate:-) No one knows our pain but us.... It's now Jan 9, 09. I went to get presurgical workup for my 2nd MCS several months ago. Dr. Blumenkopf explained the stimulators are not as successful as previously thought. He said I would get about 6 mths pain reduction and it would come back. Naturally I chose not to have the operation. There is nothing that can be done at the present time. Till something new comes along, whenever that will be.

Hi Karrie, .. I'm really glad that I heard from you in the form of a hug, because I am on this site so rarely, that I wasn't even aware of your comments about Dr. Jannetta, nor would I ever send anyone's comments to Doug, especially if it's simply a difference of opinion, & if someone did that to you, I find that totally stupid & arrogant. hi something i started uing that really helps an awful pain i get up my nose is lidocaine spray. it numbs the pain. this is a new pain i started after surgery. have you tried this? julie

hi karrie, i have had atyp tn for four years and mcs implanted two years ago in chicago hosp by a fantastic dr.. i am doing soooo much better. i am on only maint meds and can control my pain with a more recent program he gave me in may of 2008. please let me know if you have had 2nd surgery and if you are doing better. i would love to keep in touch with you since you know about the mcs. julie

Close Trigeminal Neuralgia
I've had TN Type 2 (V1-V2-V3),Occipital Neuralgia, Atypical facial pain for 7 years. 12 related surgeries. 9 were in 2006.
Treatments
- Nerve Blocks Not Working
- Were only attempted 5 yrs ago for the occipital pain. Worked only 1 week, then days. Treatment was stopped due to unsuccessful results.
