    • Close Miscarriage

we have had 5 pregnancy losses. a missed miscarriage in 2003, an etopic pregnancy in 2004, a blighted ovum june of 2007, another missed miscarriage in october of 2007 & a chemical pregnancy in feb 2009. after much testing, TWICE, all tests NORMAL & diagnosis unexplained infertility. with loss 5, i have crossed over the line of "just TOO MUCH", so, completely moving on... AWAY from any possibility of future pregnancy(ies). starting b/c (in some form). putting this behind us... w/no more losses.

      Treatments

      Acceptance Working / Worked
accepting what has happened (5 times at that) helps me not to dwell too much on things i can not control (the past), and helps me focus more on things i can work on, in hopes to make positive impact(s) in my future.
      Art Working / Worked
as an artist, i find all forms of art to be a type of escape and release. regardless, it is always a good therapy for me.
      D&C Working / Worked
i have had 4 D&Cs. all have gone well with typical quick recoveries.
      Faith Working / Worked
my faith in Christ sustains me totally through my losses and my life. without Christ, i'm not sure how well i would be moving through these losses. my faith helps keep things in perspective.
      Fish Oil Working / Worked
i just flat out feel better when i take fish oil!
      Forgiveness Working / Worked
sometimes i place the blame for these losses, although the reasons for the loss have not been pinpointed. regardless of where i am throwing the blame - - be it on myself, on my husband or even on God, forgiveness is completely freeing. really lifts a weight and reduces the bitterness.
      Helping Others Working / Worked
i find extending compassion toward other women who have experienced similar loss(es) comforts me. also, in general, knowing that help i am extending to someone makes their day better, it also helps me from getting too deep into sad thoughts of "myself" about my losses. this is a good and happy distraction and therapy.
      Holistic Health Working / Worked
i totally believe this is the ultimate avenue of physical health, if possible. i wish there was more focus on this method of healing! this is one thing i am active on regarding research and "self help".
      Keeping Busy Working / Worked
i find if i stay busy that i am less likely to let myself fall into "too much" thoughts of loss. although, sometimes i feel i get "too busy" when i should be spending more time working through my feelings of loss.
      Laughter Working / Worked
laughing always feels great! i don't laugh as much as i used to. but i did have a big laugh yesterday and enjoyed every second of it!
      Music Working / Worked
Christian music speaks to my soul, comforts and is healing. music that is like a prayer is a nice release of feelings i'm not sure how to get out. praise music helps keep my focus where it should be.
      Pets Working / Worked
we have 2 cats (cornish rex) and 2 dogs (mixed breeds = rescues). they meet us with unconditional love and have such unique little personalities. they are a true therapy to both me and my husband. they are work, but a true blessing to us. they bring many smiles!
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
although at times i am tempted to try meds for times of depression, i find that adding consistent exercise is very beneficial for me. also cutting back on sugars and simple carbs helps along with the exercise in improving my mood.
      Prayer Working / Worked
Christ is my strength and my hope.
      Self-help Working / Worked
each of us are ultimately responsible for our progress and healing. i want to do my best and seek out ways to do this. the key is finding what is best and works for each of us personally!
      Sleep Working / Worked
i find in order to feel my best and be able to work through my losses, having good quality sleep is KEY! it is my favorite "escape". when i get a good nights sleep, i am always grateful. it is a true blessing, and one i do not take for granted!
      Support Groups Working / Worked
i learned this initially by writing specific pregnancy loss board in 06/07. i found, that although most of the women on that board had children, that they had experienced at least one loss. there is a deeper level of comfort (at least for me) to receive encouragement, compassion and words from women who have experienced the same type(s) of loss.
      Walking Working / Worked
getting outside, walking the dogs, getting fresh air is wonderful. i don't do this as much as i should. i would like to be more active with this form of therapy.
