Close Infertility
I have always avoided terms like "actively TTC", so for eight+ years we were not, not trying to have a baby. We always just thought it would happen when it was time. One Sunday morning everything I have avoided facing surfaced I realized (tearfully)that I need to face my fears. I took a good hard look at my dreams and wishes. It is going to be difficult to let people in. This might be the best forum to begin. I guess it is time to start at the beginning.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful
- DH seeing an acupuncturist for a few months. We really feel it is helping.
- Arimidex Working / Worked
- DH took to increase his testosterone. It worked very well and brought him from 200 to 650 in 2 1/2 weeks! UPDATE: slowly beginning to increase his sperm count. 1/4/08 DH now taking Clomid in addition to Arimidex. Really praying it helps.
- Artificial Insemination Not Working
- First IUI 8/30/08 -- BFN Second IUI 11/11/08 -- BFN
- Basal Thermometer Not Working
- Used for a year but could never detect ovulation.
- Clomid Somewhat Helpful
- First cycle at 50 mg. Made me feel very sick for over a week, but I did ovulate. Pregnant on second cycle, but miscarried at 6 weeks. Clomid round 3: BFN :( round 4: BFN, round 5 BFN :(, round 6 BFN. . . on to something else I hated this crazy making pill!
- Folic Acid Working / Worked
- Follistim Working / Worked
- First cycle with injectables made 11 follicles -- BFN, Second round of Follistim BFN, third round BNF :(. Decided to go 3 more rounds while saving for IVF. Follistim round 4 BFN. Round 5 BFN, Round 6 BFN. IVF Bound -- Follistim for IVF
- hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) Working / Worked
- No side effects -- used with all injections cycles.
- In Vitro Fertilization Somewhat Helpful
- Starting round 1 w/ISCI! -- BFN :( *** Pregnant from round two of IVF!!! BEYOND HAPPY!
- Lupron Too Soon to Tell
- HEADACHES for days. but my ovaries are nice and suppressed for IVF.
- Metformin Too Soon to Tell
- Have just begun with round 2 of IVF. The doctor recomended this since round 1 the got 19 eggs, fertalized 17, but only 4 developed, 2 transferred and none to freeze. This may help strengthen success.
- Ovulation Predictor Kit Working / Worked
- Pretty reliable every month.
- Progesterone Too Soon to Tell
- round 5 of Follistim Decided to add it to see if it helps. We shall see... Have tried 3 diffrent types of Progesterone -- like the Citrone Gel best.
- Repronex Somewhat Helpful
- Will be taking for IVF stimulation -- BFN switiching to Menopur for round two.

2/25/08 newly diagnosed today after first month of seeing an RE to treat infertility.
Open Pregnancy After Loss/Infertility
Finally pregnant after two years of treatment with an RE. One miscarriage, multiple IUIs and two tries at IVF. Feeling happy and blessed!
