I live for those moments I get to spend at the barn. It's there I feel like I am in my real "skin". I love my horse, Sox. He helps with the sanity and sobriety. I read quite a bit. I think it's a way to shut out the rest of the world for me. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing?

That is scary. I won't ride on the roads here, because most cars seem to come around the corner on the wrong side. I'd end up with a cracked head on the pavement. I once came upon some kids riding dirt bikes in the woods and my mare frecked out....they were load and they looked like monsters. The vet found a small crack in her sesamoid bone. He says that can happen with a soft tissue injury, because the swelling will pull the bone in the wrong direction. I'm keeping her wrapped and stalled with some topical medication. I think she'll be alright, but it will be a couple more months.

I know you are fuming now, but you will never forgive yourself if you give up sox. Give it time. The resentment will take a long time to get over, but you will never get over losing sox.
