Because its MLK day I thought Id share this:
I first came across it when interviewing a medical student who wanted to do residency at USC. He had written an amazing personal statement about being a teen suffering from Crohns disease and trying to become a doctor at the same time...he had read this quote and really latched on to it. For those of you on DS suffering from a chronic illness or death or a family member you may like this as much as I do.

"Unearned suffering is redemptive"

IM not sure if what i have to say would be of a help to anyone. Its been 10 years for me since i was told i had 1-5 years to live..Not to sound ungrateful as to the time that has been given to me. But death to me is not the worse thing that can happen with pulm fibrosis sometimes living can be, im waiting for my hospital bed in a few weeks if insurance approves; My lungs and heart prevent me from sleeping well. The good thing is my doc and i work together to keep me at home; for now. We always plan for the next stage..with luck i will see yet another christmes in my own home.
