I was wondering if you could help me in any way. My healthy 18 yr. old daughter died while in the shower at college in 2005. She was only at college for 3 weeks. Her & 4 other girls in her sweet were getting ready to go for breakfast. One of the girls woke her up & asked if she could shower first, so Brittany(my angel) went back to sleep for 1/2 an hour. When she woke & went in the shower, all the girls said she was fine. About 25 minutes into her shower, one of the girls called out to her and recieved no answer. It wasn't until 15 minutes later, the girl opened the shower curtain and found Brittany on her knees with her head back. She didn't have any shampoo in her hair & her face was unwashed. They called 911 & I was told she was already dead, but they worked on her for 45 minutes. The coroner first told us it was anaphylactic shock & one of her left ventricular arteries of her heart was the size of a pin head & the other was extremely narrow. The coroner insisted her dead had nothing to do with her heart. So they never sent Brittany's heart out for further testing. After we questioned these result, the coroner decided to have a pulmonary specialist look into the autopsy results. Two months later I was told Brittany died from upper respiratory failure due to chronic bronchitis with asthmatic components.. When Brittany's doctors recieved this news they informed me Brittany was never diagnosed with chronic bronchitis or asthma and we had Brittany's autopsy results & tissue slides sent to UMDNJ in Newark, NJ to another pathologist.. The first thing I was told by this pathologist was that her cardiologist 's opinion was that by looking at the report about the size of the arteries, he would have said heart problems, but without seeing the back of the heart, he could not 100% determine heart disease. The only other thing that was suggested was that she may have had a bronchial spasm and went unconscious and due to the size of the arteries her heart could not pump enough blood to revive her. Let me just tell you also there was no alcohol or drugs in her system at all. Brittany was a cheerleader her whole life and also very active in gymnastics. She never had any trouble breathing and the night before she died she was playing volleyball. Everyone she was in contact with till midnight said she was not sick at all. I am having such a problem understanding what really happened. If you could add anything to this or let me know if you have ever heard of such a death, I would really appreciate it. I can even send you a copy of the autopsy. I really need some closure, this has been a living hell Brittany was the sweetest, smartest, kind & loving young lady ever. She was my bestfriend.Thank you. Hello Dr Orange, i hope you are well i hope you could help me with a small problem i was diagnosed diabetic 3 weeks ago the hospital put me on metformin and i have had lots of side effects and upper abdominal pain on my right side i don't have a gall bladder so i know its not that. my GP said if these symptoms keep occurring they will have to change my medication to a more natural method i forgot to ask what this would be do you know what he meant thanks for taking the time to read this luv fern x(northern Ireland)
