Yes, I know...i'm 43 and should have had my first one around 40. BUT, I put it off. I don't know why it wasn't that big of a deal. Yes, it was a bit uncomfortable but the lady who did it was really nice.
I thought it was going to be a quick in and out ordeal...silly me! I got in right away and then she had me wait in my little dressing cubicle and wait for her to come get me. I guess they run the test to the radiologist and tell you what his feedback is. She had me come back into the x-ray room because he found some tiny calcium type deposits and needed a closer look. We had to run a few more scans on my left breast. So, back in the little cubicle I go to wait for her ...this time took a bit longer. She told me to get my clothes back on and that the radiologist wants to talk with me. So...long story short he wants to be safe and have me get a biopsy. He is 90% sure that they are not cancerous just is a precautionary step. I was to call my doctor so they could refer me back to them to get the biopsy done. I talked to my doctor and she said that it would be in my best interest to have the biopsy done by and actual surgeon. She said that they would or might have some other options in how the biopsy is done and such...? So, I will do that I suppose. I am waiting now to hear back from the surgeons office to schedule and appointment with them. Ugh. I am not freaking out at all...feel confident really either way. IF it is something either that could lead to cancer or if it is the radiologist explained i was caught at a very early stage, but still he emphasized it is most likely nothing. So I am not worrying. I will update!
