Went to my first Endocrinologist appointment and met the doctor for the consultation. I really liked him. HUGE relief. So far it seems the specialists that I have had to see are , let's just say, not so nice. He listened to me very focused on my story and asked questions trying to probe deeper. How refreshing! I will be able to tell more in future appointments. By the way, this appointment was to evaluate me for Addison's Disease. Tuesday I will go in for the ACTH test to find out more. Will update then.
He also is switching me to Armour Thyroid (recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's) because it is covered by our insurance and so much, much cheaper than the compounded kind I am on now. I will take 60mg (I think that's what he wrote) of that when I run out of the 50mg T3 I am on now. The Armour has T4 as well as the T3. He likes that better I think that I start adding some T4 in there. He was very impressed with my Doctor for pointing me to him and uncovering little red flags for the Addison's. He is a little perplexed that I don't seem to have the classic hyperpigmentation symptom other than the fact that I have NEVER tanned in my life (living in California..that sucked) But last Summer (Washington State) not trying at all got a deep golden tan. First time EVER. wha? Very strange. I was delighted but also a bit astonished about it as was my family. He said that it doesn't rule it out by any means. So we will learn more soon. He said if I have adrenal fatique the dose I am on now (5mg) will not do a darn thing for me. He will bump me up for sure if we find out I do indeed need to.
So....I will update soon~
