    • Good Luck

      From katevet February 6

i agree, iam all in favor of helping to make the decisions that will affect my body. I fully believe in adrenal fatigue . Some Dr's think it's a fad diagnosis. You have to have full blown addisons disease for the conventional acth test to show a deficiency. Not so very long ago, chronic fatigue was considered a fad and so was fibromyalgia. Point being, they will some day realize that adrenal fatigue is just as real and a componant of adrenal failure. Good luck with your Dr and stay well.

      From katevet January 28

I hear you, i went years without a diagnosis and felt like it was all in my head. I feel like the health issues cause the depression and anxiety. Dont give up. If you really feel your problems are physical, keep after it. I don't know where i would be if i believed so many drs who said that all was well, It was not. I have a very odd disorder according to my endocrinologist, BTW he is my fourth endo and the best!. The others did the acth saw it normal and dismissed me. That caused me so much stress and anxiety and made me feel like it had to just be me. Hang tough,

    • Close Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

I have hypoglycemia. I have been so ill for 2 years now. Vertigo hit hard Nov. 2006 and have gone down hill ever since. The fatigue is terrible and just about every single symptom one could read with Hypoglycemia I have. I even get hypothermia and tremble with vertigo at night. I am angry really. I have been to a neurologist,ENT,had echocardiagrams,MRI's,more than one...been poked and prodded. Have been ignored in the emergency room. Not one doc took my glucose levels or checked adrenal issues.

      Treatments

      Cortisol Working / Worked
Most people who are hypoglycemic are low on Cortisol. I take a very low dose of 5mg daily. 2.5 at breakfast and the other half at lunch. I am being evaluated for Addisons. My new endo said that if I do have it my cortisol will be increased substantially.
    • Close Dizziness & Vertigo

Woke upNov. 2006 with the whole room violently turning completely sideways. I gasped hard and grabbed a hold of my husband because I thought I was going to fly off the bed! It was horrible and scary. I started shaking violently and uncontrollably for about 40 minutes. Went to the hospital eventually as I had slurred speech and felt just awful and so dizzy...terrible. Well, it's been over 2 years and have never recovered. Still am dizzy on a daily basis with other symptoms as well.

    • Open Hypothyroidism

I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's. IT was first suggested I had thyroid resistance at the FAtigue Center...but, my new doctor did an antiboidies lab test and found it is Hashimotot's thyroiditis. The dose of T3 I was on has been doubled for now. I went to an endocrinologist who has suggested. I hope some of my symptoms will subside as I continue taking the thyroid med. Will be switching to Armour at 60mg per day. Been a long journey! Hope SOME of my symptoms will be going soon!

      Treatments

Armour Thyroid Too Soon to Tell
I will be switching to Armour as soon as my T3 runs out. I will update!
    • Open Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

I was diagnosed with CFIDS and Fibro not long ago after so much suffering and shuffling from doctor to doctor and having tests after tests. My symptoms are all those associated with these debilitating disorders and have kept me housebound for 20 months now. I have vertiog which is the most debilitating of all my symptoms. I read Dr. Teitelbaums 'From Fatigued to Fantastic' and this lead me to my closest Fatigue/Fibro clinic. UPDATE: was unable to continue going as it is SO expensive.

      Treatments

      Cortisol Working / Worked
While I think it has helped, my gut tells me I need more. Currently on 5mg daily. I am being evaluated for Addison's with an endocrinologist. If I do have it, my cortisol will be increased substantially. He is angry that I was not sent to an endo to be evaluated sooner.
      DHEA Too Soon to Tell
My NEW doctor who is local and on our insurance has me taking 25mg of DHEA. She is hoping it might help regulate all my female type hormones.
      Florinef Too Soon to Tell
I have low aldosterone levels which we are hoping may be a piece to the puzzle for my ear pressure problems which lead to my constant dizziness and horrible vertigo.UPDATE: my endo is evaluating me for Addison's disease as does not know why I was not sent to endo earlier. Low aldosterone levels with low cortisol is a sign for Addison's. It angers me that the FAtigue center did not alert me to this.
      Lunesta Not Working
Having a heck of a time finding a sleep aid that will help me get a good night sleep that my doctor really wants me to have. This didnt help either. I will try ambien I suppose next
    • Open Addison's Disease

THis has been a miserable 2 years of many doctors/tests and finally the pieces are coming together. My symptoms are unrelenting fatigue, vertigo, dizziness(debilitating),muscle weakness, muscle burning and pain, back pain (horrible),ear pressure exasperates vertigo, severe hypoglycemia, intolerance to cold, crash with emotional or physcial stress, salt craving most of my life and never knew why?,VERY fair skinned my whole life & never tanned. Until this last summer without trying. Hashimoto's as well.

      Treatments

      Cortisol Working / Worked
only taking 2.5mg in morning, and 2.5mg in afternoon. My first endo. appointment is Jan. 2nd. My new doctor strongly suspects Addison's and most likely will be taking more Cortisol.
      Florinef Working / Worked
I was put on florinef without being told why...took for 3 months. My aldosterone level went from 2 to 15. Yay!
    • Open Fibromyalgia

Was diagnosed with Fibro and CFS this year while searching for an explanation to my debilitating fatigue, vertigo, dizziness, muscle weakness, pain, brain fog, sever hypoglycemic crashes, sensitivity to cold, autoimmune issues. Along the way I have found that I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and my new doctor highly suspects Addison's disease of which I will be evaluated for come January.

      Treatments

      5-HTP Not Working
I tried this for some depression, and also to raise serotonin levels of which I am low on. I stopped as it seemed to cause my fibro to get worse.
      Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
By far the BEST therapy to date. I feel soo much better while in the hot tub. I feel every fiber of my being just sighing with relief the minute I get in. I only can stand the temp. of 97 ish though. By far the best thing for my fibro that I have tried.
      Ultram Not Working
Tried this and my sensitive system could not tolerate it. Didn't help with the pain either.
      Vitamin B12 Working / Worked
Please do not use Cyanocobalamin...use Methylcobalamin sublingual by Jarrow. Let it dissolve under your tongue for as long as it will last. DOn't suck on it. B12 is SO VERY important to every cell in our body. Only a few brands work well...Jarrow and Enzymatic Therapy sublinguals. Cyano is NOT good for you... MethylB12 by Jarrow 5000 MCG at iherb.com is very reasonable!
      Progesterone Working / Worked
This is a natural progestrin I take 100mg nightly before bed. It was prescribed for my need to balance my hormones and my tendancy for estrogen dominance.even though I am low on that too It has helped me sleep better than sleeping aids natural and others that I have tried in the past.
