Thanks giving surrender
Summer won’t surrender to fall
Fall wont’ surrender to winter…
This I know…the wind whispered it to me…
I walked in the cool …ok cold woods…today..
Giving thanks for the nearness of nature ..
First I saw the red berry’s hanging boldly on a brown bush…
I sloshed through some snow that had encountered the sun
a step off the trail …. brown, red leaves had sought solace
from the blankets of winter..under the pines
stepping into the opening I am overwhelmed by the beauty..
movie like scene before me…the golden rod prairie grass…
dancing gently
I climb slowly carefully
snow, leaves, snow, leaves as if nature can’t decide either…
Finally at the top of the knoll…
The sky in front of me illustrates the struggle…at the top a dark smokey grey...ashen….turning whipsy white as it reaches down towards the prairie
streaks of blue …grey blue…….gently rolling into a peach color..
I take it all in…awed…even the skies are not willing to surrender
So I surrender
to the bench, I sit no… lay on the bench
the sky behind me is sky blue …crisp with fluffy cotton white clouds..
how much do I miss out on because I don’t take in the 360 degree view…
earth reaches for my arms… I stare straight up..
the scene plays…my mind drifts with the sky that floats above…
my back is warm against the wood, the peeking sun toasts me enough
that I forget myself….until the trail calls
as I say good by to the prairie, the sun shoots a bright yellow ray
which changes the hues.. of the grasses, of the sky…
the knoll looks different ..again ever... changing
3-feathered friends flit out of their cozy hiding place
the trail leads to the creek…
long green grasses grasp the shore for dear life
water running through it like when you rinse your hair..signs of summer
the water streams over browny moss on the river rocks... signs of fall
a snowberg slides in …signs of winter..
I do a 360 on the rickety little bridge
the spring fed pond is in a deadlock…
green …emerald green algae bracing itself …
against the sharp edges of layers of steel white ice…
winter is embroaching…
my throat tightens as I take in the cold cold air…
snow now crunches under my feet…
I am where I started…full circle…
360 with a twist…
grateful that I was witness to the surrender dance of

most profound madam though I found it a little scarey for my liking. Just my way I suppose it was a little creepy but then again I am a big softy. Hope you are well thinking of you always my friend. Nick xx

Wow, I wish you could write like this more often because it is such an awesome treat for us. It's worth the wait, though. There's a SENSUAL creative mysterious creative poet hiding behind those consonants! There is also a lesson hidden behind the words for us to take the time and try to really look at and appreciate our surroundings and also to withdraw from the everyday grind and try to get closer to the beauty of nature. Thank you for the delightful post. Rose
