Journal Entry for February 12, 2007
12/02/07 Received my first "hug" today. I have to say it put a smile on my face. It's nice to get a word of encouragment too. Thank you ajreid!
My name is Tracie and I am 49yrs old. I have been married for 30 wonderful years. In sept/03 I was diagnosed with CLL. What a shocker! I was not sick. It was picked up by fluke in my yearly medical..As I have yet to experience any real symptoms, no treatment has been prescribed so far.I see my encologist yearly to monitor my condition. My last visit was a real moral boost as my white blood count actually went down a little as did my lymphocytes. That has never happened in the past. I try to take good care of myself and I think I am doing ok. Occasionally I must remind myself to slow down when I find myself feeling a little tired.I live in a rural area and there are no support groups here for CLL. I have recently met another lady with CLL here thru my family doctor. We have talked a few times and I think I was able to help her a little by just being another person with the same fears and concerns. Someone to talk to about how she is feeling.I think I have benefited as well. I don't feel quite so alone.

I drive a small country school bus. It is the best job ever! I really enjoy the 17 children on my little bus. I hope to be a grandma some day. Our daughter is 22yrs old. She lives in another city where she is working and about to go back to school to become an ultra sound technician. She already has a degree in Multi Media production. My husband retired from a 30 yr career in the military and has recently started his "2nd career" as a private safety consultant in the oil industry. We run our private consultant business from our home. We love living in the country and would be very reluctant to go back to city living.
