Where the WIld Things Are Mood
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 | A Rambling story

Where the Wild Things Are is a movie after my own inner child's heart. It captures beautifully and accurately what it feels like to be a child, a bundle of so many emotions wanting to be expressed but without the adequate words to do so...

Max is my new hero!!!! Please read my review on http://criticseyes.blogspot.com

for details. Check out my other reviews as well (warning: some have spoilers, with exception with latest entry)

I definitely want to read Dave Eggars adapted novel of the original book and of the movie. It extrapolates the outside life of Max and how it interplays with his inner life overpowered by his imagination. I know I used mine to get through things, more to dull the pain...

For me, my dollhouse was the setting of "Where the Wild Things Are". Only they were more civilized. The difference in reality and imagination came when years before Jon & Kate Plus Eight or the other reality shows featuring 14+ children on tv came along.

Being an only child, I wanted to have 14 siblings. Then sometimes I was pulled to make it a bit more realistic as I grew older and split them into cousin families living door to door....Nothing really exciting really happened I don't think. I improvised a baby carriage as an outdoor pool and a kiddie billiard table as astroturf covered backyard...Is was beyond the Brady Bunch yet less exciting ...

I'm planning to see the movie again with my mom. I tried to show her Finding Nemo if she could see correlations to our relationship. Though Finding Nemo is more biographical to me in nature, Where the Wild Things Are at least shows how it felt growing up not so much on the physical side...but within the emotional psyche....I think it's a great reminder for young adults to see this, though most of our generation is in arrested development anyway...As for parents, I believe it provides a window into the heart and mind of the inner workings of the complex child :)
