There has been a lot of buzz for the surprise hit movie Paranormal Activity. I learned of it briefly reading Entertainment Weekly and then so much buzz from twitter piqued my interest more...

Let me tell you, if you scare easily and have an overactive audiovisual imagination to begin with, you probably don't need to watch the movie. Just the synopsis and spoiler of both original and alternative endings will mess you up...Some Tweeters claim not being able to sleep for 3 days!...What?

It's strange our fascination with what scares us. Often times, we don't even know what is under our noses that we should really be afraid of. Our wastefulness. Our selfishness. Our laziness. The list could go on and on.

For the last few days, I sensed some sort of out of the ordinary presence within me. Not paranormal so to speak, but just felt "wrong" in a way...

Then this morning, an air conditioner/heater maintenance man comes to the house for check up to get ready for the winter....Seems we had not "paranormal" activity in our house, as he uses his nifty gadgets that look like propse from Ghostbusters, but "abnormal activity" in our heater...

We wanted our heat turned on, but according to this man, it seems that our heater has aged so much that we were at risk for carbon monoxide poison. Without his astute assessment, we would have probably DIED in 2 to 3 hours!

Scaryyyyyyy!

Perhaps my feeling of unrest and unease isn't necessarily related to the two above stories, but it makes  you think about how you sleep at night....
