I am trying to keep up my intake of healthy foods so that my body has enough calories to use during my workouts! My after-dinner snack wasn't great calorie-wise but everything was healthy so I figure it probably won't do too much damage to my calories.
I was talking to Brian about possibly having a boba smoothie ONCE a week as a treat. Obviously I would allot the calories, but I guess I am having a hard time deciding what is "okay" to treat myself with and what isn't. He made the point that I am slowly merging back into the real world of "normal foods" (aka not slimfasts twice a day for the rest of my life) and that I shouldn't have such an all-or-nothing attitude. I still want to lose those last (and hardest) 17 pounds, but I also want to train myself to be able to treat myself once a week to something I really enjoy. I agree with him, I guess I am just scared that it will become a habit and not a rarity. But I just need to believe in the power of me and understand that I will never go back to eating what I used to (ex: a WHOLE box of those hostess chocolate covered mini donuts- JUST for breakfast!
OMG!) and that it is okay to eat "normal" foods as long as they fit into my calories. Finding the balance is the hardest part for me, because unlike most people losing weight, as I am getting closer to my goal I need to eat MORE calories instead of less. Due to the amount of running and exercise I am doing, I know that 1,200 is not enough to sustain the 5 mile runs and 189 flights of stairs!
I just get SUPER nervous when I increase or change my caloric intake...
So we'll see...

I understand how increasing your calories can make you nervous, but I really think you have nothing to worry about with as much as you work out. In fact, towards the beginning you may even end up losing more weight because you are going to be changing what your body is used to. I think you are doing fantastic and that you will continue to do fantastic :)

I was thinking about this today as I walked in to work. I was looking forward to the time when I begin to "maintain" and not in losing mode. It will be scary to up my calories, but it's important to do so or you'll eventually become unhealthy. Do what feels right and ease yourself into it. I have faith in you that you can allow yourself this once a week treat and not let it overwhelm you. I admire your weekly Taco Tuesday allowance---you haven't overdone that, so I don't think you'll overdo the smoothie. Great job on the run!!

I get you. On days that I am doing really well I find it hard to push myself to eat the full 1,200 because I'm afraid I haven't worked out enough. Which i know is completely ridiculous because I should never drop below that. You are doing great thou! Trust your judgement and make decisions that are right for your body and keep you feeling great!

I used to think the same and the more I watched Biggest Loser I realized that eating enough calories is a major key. I guess as our weight changes we also need to double check our calorie intake based on activity level regularly. I'm still learning and progressing slowly but will get the hang of it and so will you! Your doing amazing and I am so jealous! You have made impossible possible if you know what I mean. Take it easy, stay strong and don't ever give up. You are # 1 priority with yourself! P.S. Instead of slimfast, your correct maybe to have healthier items (oatmeal, whole grain toast, whole grain cereal w/fruit, etc.) within your calorie range. I'm sure you will do great! CHEERS TO YOU! You're so smart about your weight loss that I'm sure with patience you will figure it all out. Your after dinner snack looks healthy to me. I understand your feelings about this, it's so hard to figure it all out sometimes. There's no right or wrong it's just tough to choose wisely and allow those "trigger foods" in sometimes. Super job with the run!!!

Whoa that is a lot to shave off! I can't wait until I am fit enough to start really running. Too bad I can run to the river from where I am at in NYC not a beautiful beach like you - that looks like a great motivator on its own!

Try not to worry too too much about it. The more you obsess about "to eat or not to eat" the more you will get back into your old habits of picking poor food choices and feeling the NEED to have them. Keep doing what you're doing. Treat yourself once a week and dont feel guilt about it. You're not "fat" (I HATE that word) anymore... you are a machine that needs fuel and you are giving your body the fuel it needs. Congrats on shaving so much time off of your run!!! WAY exciting!

I understand the worry, it's perfectly normal, but try not to stress too much - you are doing great and you'll get it figured out - you're very levelheaded about all of this. just take the changes slow so you can really judge how you'll handle them - good luck!
