My back hurts. Like a lot. And yes, I have been icing it (maybe too much?), taking alleve, using icyhot, and NOT running or doing any impact stuff. grrrrrr!!
As much as I hate to have to do it, swimming is really my only option for cardio at this point. I can still lift weights for my upper body and do ab work, but I WANT TO RUN.
Pitty party aside, I am pretty certain that I won't be ready for my half marathon in October. It is October 12th and my time is running out to work up the distance. I am not going to rule it out but I am not planning on it either. My back is my priority at this point and as Stacey put it, there's a half marathon in this area practically every month. It sucks but I really don't need pit bull ass syndrome.
Today when I was working out with Stacey's class, this one lady started talking to Stacey about how she doesn't eat. According to her, she doesn't "find time" to feed herself. She claims that after she feeds all four kids, she forgets about herself and doesn't eat for the whole day. Maybe this theory (sort of
) makes sense except for the fact that she is 250 pounds. And like 5'4. So either she started out at 400 pounds or she is eating and in huge denial about it. I just wonder why people even bother lying about that. Just admit that you have a food problem and seek help instead of lying to everyone you meet about what you put in your mouth. I was looking at her like "seriously??" And then I asked her if she gets hungry and she said "no, and then I just can't remember to eat." Okaaaaayy....![]()

Man, I hope you can still the run the 1/2, there is still hope, so stay positive. Keep resting! Thanks for the stitch advice in my journal, I appreciate it! Yeah, I love those people who "forget" to eat, but are clearly not. Hopefully, it will become clear to them someway that they have a problem and work on it. It's going to hit them hard soon. I see it at work when I weight the overweight people and they say "That number can't be right, I was 20lbs last week!" Riiiiggghhhttttt! Anyway, keep resting and nice job on the water!!

I agree your back is your number 1 priority! At least you can swim!! That is a great workout too. I don't understand people either, but I do remember being a chunky butt and thinking 'I'm not really THAT fat'. I think we justify the things we don't want to face however we can... its sad really. Amazing job on the water! I don't know how you don't float away!!! Big hugs!!

I'm sorry about your back! xoxo

Oh! I am so sorry to hear about your back! Definitely you need to make that the priority...and I agree you should not give up on trying to reach your goal of running the half.
That lady in that class does sound like she's in denial...or maybe just doesn't realize. Before I went on my diet both my husband and I were convinced that I already ate healthy. Then as I began my diet and I deleted some foods from my food choices I realized that my diet was not as healthy as I had been convinced...but I never claimed I didn't eat! That is true denial.

I'm so sorry about your half marathon love. I know how hard you've worked for that. GRRR!! I can just picture you trying to not show your reaction on your face when that lady was crazy-talking. Get a heating pad for your back and alternate with the ice. That might help too? OH! and pineaple cream cheese?? that sounds like an amazing creation...I hope the laundromat had a clean bathroom. All that water plus caffeine and you might have been in trouble. i love you!

TAKE CARE OF THAT BACK girlie...I know you will. It only takes being down because of an injury or illness to wake ourselves up to taking care of ourselves...am I right?
Anyway...lovin the frapp idea...may have to pop over to starbucks myself this evening...Kevin's out of town. I may even play hookie from the gym tonight...yeah right!
Love you!!!

Oh no!! Sorry it's still bugging you. Do whatever you have to to avoid that deadly pitbull ass syndrome. Why don't you try heating pad on it a bit? Hope you'll enjoy the swimming. Wow on the water intake yesterday! And I'm glad you got the tacos in! They were a big hit here I'll have to make them again when the kids get back.
And no picking on the fat lady Lisa! It's good that she's exercising and probably feels so embarassed over her size at the gym there- with you tiny girls that she flibbertygiberted. I'm probably about the same size as her because I'm 5ft 1in. I've lied too and fooled myself into believing the lies.
Love ya and hope Wednesday is great!

Well if misery loves company ( well, you don't sound miserable and I am not either- but you know what I mean!) My stupid hip is acting up again too, but I HAD to go do 3 miles uphill on the bike at the trail Sunday night- like an idiot in denial! Anyway, good idea to play the marathon by ear-you have ridden out injuries and illnesses in the past- I know it is a drag, but you can do it again! This is life, isn't it- I know you will adapt and do what ever ya gotta do to stay healthy!! I think Em was right, the overweight lady was probably embarrassed being next to you and felt like she had to say something to make up for how she was feeling inside. Pretty obvious she has been making time to eat- you are right. At least she is at the gym and working on her excercise! anyway, stay strong, keep your spirits up! You are in maintenance and look amazing- that has not changed. You just have to take a break form running a while, hal your back and then you will get back to it!! Love and hugs!!
