The basis of the gym I have been working out at (with the owner lady Stacey) is that each person is one of 4 body types. And after learning about them, I can't stop looking at people and figuring out which one they are. Finally after all of these years of comparing my body to other people's who have COMPLETELY different body types than me, I feel good about myself and my personal body type.
So here they are:
Mesomorph: (I am a mesomorph): We gain weight primarily in the stomach and upper body. Extreme mesomorphs are the people with "chicken legs" and very large stomachs.
Endomorph: Endomorphs are those who carry their weight in their butt and legs. Extreme endomorphs are those with teensey waists and "thunder thighs".
Meso-endo: a combination. People who are meso-endos carry weight in both areas. The fat is proportioned more evenly on their bodies.
Exomorphs: Are long, lean people. The Heidi Klums and Paris Hiltons. They naturally have high metabolisms but since they don't gain weight as much as the other types (usually at most a paunch in the lower stomach), they tend to have other health issues that come from eating poorly. Stacey said that most exomorphs are "skinny fat" meaning that there is excess fat surrounding organs, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and from a internal perspective, their body is the same as a fat person's body.
Stacey said that exomorphs are built for endurance sports like marathon running. They don't build large bulky muscles. Endomorphs on the other hand have a really hard time running because even w/o being fat, the shape of their muscles and their wide hips makes it hard for impact sports. Mesomorphs like me (and her) can run, swim, etc but our bodies "bulk up" very quickly from weight training and are also very prone to gain weight.
I have been finding all of this extremely interesting. I am such a sponge with her and I ask a bazillion questions about everything from stretching to proper size of exercise ball to body positioning during activities to calorie questions. I am so fascinated by all of it.
Eating my "dinner" for breakfast is working AMAZINGLY well for me. Since all of my meals don't fall into B,L,D categories, I am going to do meal #1,2,3 etc instead.

Endomorph: Endomorphs are those who carry their weight in their butt and legs. Extreme endomorphs are those with teensey waists and "thunder thighs".- THAT'S ME, MY BROTHERS USED TO CALL ME THUNGER THIGHS. I STILL HAVE THEM BUT NOT AS HUGE :). NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY I FEEL AKWARD RUNNING, LIKE MY HIPS OR LOWER HALF AREN'T RIGHT. I CAN RUN AND I WILL LOSE MY Endomorph AND BECOME A Meso-endo SOME DAY. STILL BOTTOM HEAVY AND I'M OK WITH THAT REALLY. YOUR DOING GREAT LISA AND THANKS FOR SHARING, VERY INTERESTING. YOU ARE DOING AWESOME AND I KNOW YOU HAVE TO BE SO HAPPY!!!!

That is super interesting...I am definitely an endomorph! My butt and thighs are out of control :) Your excercise and food all look fantastic, and I am glad that you are figuring out your food intake to work for you. I hope you have a great weekend :)

That sounds great. I am glad that your meals are working out for you. I watched this show called You Are What You Eat and the nutritionist trains people to eat dinner foods for breakfast. She said that people have to stop thinking that we have to eat breakfast food for breakfast. It does work because then you eat you bulk of the meal in the morning when you will use up the most energy! I'm glad it's working out for you. I guess my body type is a meso-endo. I gain weight all over - chest, arms, legs, stomack, etc. I guess that is okay though because I know that if I lose weight then I will lose weight in all areas! Thanks for that information. Hope you have a great weekend!

I love reading your journals too! I am a totalllllll endomorph. I thought running would help get rid of my thighs and butt!! All of your working out is AMAZING! And you've made me crave a giant bowl of oatmeal and I am having for breakfast tomorrow! I don't know what you are going to school for, but I think Kinesiology would suit you!
