Working out with a smile on your face Mood
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 | A Positive story

I had a good day yesterday.  I got up WAY early (4:30am) so I would have enough time to drive to the high school pool I work at and then run to Stacey's gym (1.5 miles away) and make it there by 6 for the workout.  Yesterday's workout was a step class.  Which is not EVEN as hard as that stairmaster so I guess you could say I was pleasantly surprised Undecided(?) even though she worked us hard.  Then I ran back to the high school, walked a quarter mile on the track and then stretched.  It was a really solid workout and it was a SUPER great feeling knowing that I got my whole workout done early in the day.Laughing  Yay!

A few weeks back in an issue of People there was an article about a track runner who will be in the Olympics this year and is a favorite for her event.  She was diagnosed a few years back with some crazy disease (an autoimmune disease I think) and her body was getting weaker and she was REALLY sick.  She eventually got put on the right set of meds and responded well to treatment and she was able to run again (and faster!) when she came back and now she's in the Olympics.  There was a quote in there that I cut out and stuck in my planner that reminded me my own attitude when I was sick with pneumonia (and 6 lbs away from my goal!).  Wrknprogress also has this attitude because of her illness and I wanted to post it for her and for all of you...

"The silver lining was it ignited a new fire in me.  There were times when I wasill that I wanted to go to practive and couldn't.  Now my workouts can be hard as hell and I have a smile on my face."Smile

I guess a person has to be really sick to experience that (I know I did when I was sick) and that is why I appreciate my workouts now...Smile

You crazy girl! I'm glad to check in to see you are doing well and kicking butt at your goals. You amaze me. One day, I will have to steal some of that motivation. Right now, I think I am getting my exercise primarily through running in circles. Lots to do, not enough time - something you know all about. Anyway, I miss you so much. I am about to employ carrier pigeons so I can stay in contact. I swear!

Wow, you are something else!!! I love it when I get in a solid workout early- it just sets the whole day up to be good!! Too bad I have not been doing that lately, but you may inspire me!! Love the quote and get that working out is not something to take for granted, we should all pledge to smile at some point during the next workout we have especially when we feel like quitting!!! I promise I will think of you at the gym tomorrow and your quote! Love you!!!!
