Bear with me guys, this might be a long one...
My pulmonologist said (and then showed me, slide by slide) that my lungs look "perfect."
He also mentioned that my heart, spleen, and everything else looks great. In addition, he also said that I do not have a cracked rib, or anything crazy going on. What I do have is cartilage damage around those first top ribs on my left ribcage. I was like "huh? what does that mean?" and he explained that when you are young (I'm 21) you still have cartilage on the top portion of your bones and as you get older it (and your flexibility) goes. So he showed me the slides and pointed to the cartilage and how it is shaped WAY differently on my left (injured) side than my right side.
Bad news is that cartilage heals VERY slowly (2 to 3 months) due to the fact that there is no blood in cartilage. However, he said that no kind of exercise (besides boxing or impact sports) will make it worse. So he said go ahead and run, lift weights, stretch, whatever. Just be careful with people hugging you and stay away from impact to that area. YAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am supposed to be taking tylenol for pain and I will come back in 2 weeks.
Oh, and he also showed me on the slide that I have a cyst on my right kidney.
Totally opposite side of any pain and he said most people are born with them, but he ordered an ultrasound of it and also wanted an Xray of my ribs just to take a closer look. But for now I am GOOD!!!
So that means that my ass will be in the gym or on a run every day!
lol I feel so lucky to have nothing horrible wrong with me and to know that my lungs are in good shape! Now I can work on that workout every day goal again! I left it hanging at 144 for the year!

OMG, What????!!! That is great news!!! Sounds like you got a very thorough doc who is explaining and showing everything to you- which is so important. I am sorry to har about the cyst thing, but that will hopefully turn out to be a non-issue. So I picture you going nuts in the gym!!! Gotta restrain yourself a little to build back up. That must have been music to your ears, you have waited SO LONG to find out what was going on. I am so proud of how you stuck it out and did not relapse, so you can pick up where you left off!!! So exciting, what a nice way to start my day today- to know you are grinning ear to ear! Love you and big gigantic hugs!!
