About Me
I joined DS a few weeks after my Mom passed away suddenly. We lost her on October 10th, 2007 just 20 days short of her 67 birthday. She had be ill with COPD and Emphysema for a few years but was managed w/medication and oxygen.Both my brother and I are in the medical field and sometimes knowing too much is not good. My Mom's death is my first "parent loss" and it still seems that I am lost. The picture you see is of my Mom almost 3 years ago at my son's 7th birthday party. She looked great there! I miss her something terribly, I'm lost without her!! I have great family support, but they just don't understand such a loss of a parent. My heart goes out to all who have suffered a loss! {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}

Hi Connie, so nice to hear from you. Hope you are doing good also. I just passed my mom's 1st year anniversary. I went to Key West----her favorite place in the world and got a tatoo on my leg in loving memory. I used to hate tatoos---but I needed to do something non traditional for me on that day, as my mom was very cool. Keep in touch and I have packaged some sunshine and it's on it's way!!!!! Love, Karen

Type: Loss of a ParentI just recently lost my Mom 2 weeks ago. Very hard to deal with. I have a very supportive family and Thank God my Dad is still here. I am taking things day by day.
Treatments
- Crying Somewhat Helpful
- I'm trying to get it all out, but I know I have a long way to go. It seems like I am crying so much and them I am good for awhile.
- Grief Counseling Working / Worked
- I've been seeing a grief counselor at the community college I go to. Has been helpful. I also am starting group counseling. Hope it helps.
- Keeping Busy Somewhat Helpful
- I just went back to work yesterday after being off for two weeks since my Mom passed. Yesterday was rough since it was 2 wks exactly since my Mom passed way. Today was a better day at work.
- Music Working / Worked
- Music has been helpful. Helping to remember the different timelines in my life w/my Mom. Some happy some sad.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- I have always prayed, so continuing to do so. I find I am still sad, but find peace.
- Reading Working / Worked
- Started to read a book about "losing a parent" This is my first "parentloss" experience. Very hard to deal with.
- Remembering Somewhat Helpful
- With spring coming, I am planning a memorial garden in my yard in memory of my Mom. I hope when it is done that it will look beautiful.

- I just finished a group bereavement class through the local hospice near our town. It was comforting to be with other people who all had recent losses. We all understood each other and got so much from it.

Stage: Early OnsetHello, My Uncle was just diagnosed with AD 1 month ago. Looking for more information to help my Aunt with. I know my uncle is taking Razadyne and Namenda. I keep all of you both patient and caregiver in my prayers!
Open GERD & Heartburn
I have a family history of esophageal cancer and I have barretts esophagus. I go for annual endoscopies to prevent any problelms.
Treatments
- Carafate Working / Worked
- has been very helpful in the past.
- Nexium Working / Worked
- Started using this med beginning of the year.
- Protonix Working / Worked
- Was using protonix 40 mg BID and still felt some pain. Dr. switched med.
- Raising Bed Position Working / Worked
- have been using a wedge with my pillows at night to elevate to sleep. Using for 4 years now.
Open Diverticulitis
Just joining.....my husband was just dx with diverticulitis the othIer day. It is amazing how much pain he was in. I'm hoping to get some information and support from this group
