Retired teacher, married 20 years-we travel for archaeological exploration & fun. So far: Kenya, Iceland, Orkney & other Scottish Islands, Salzburg, Bavaria, Daarmstaadt Germany. Met great people all over the world. My father explored/mapped Antarctica & has a mountain & glacier named after him there. He is from Georgia, my mother grew up on a ranch in Wyoming. I believe in Jesus, am a Celtic Christian. A published poet (one poem in a book that was on the NYC Times "best of the small presses" for 8 weeks). My husband is an actor (who also has a "day job") He was in Zero Mostel's road show of "Fiddler on the Roof." We are active in regional theater. Some of my best friends are Actors! Love movies. Favorites: Dr. Zhivago, Gangs of NY, The Recruit, Out of Africa.

Close Bipolar Disorder
Knew from age 7 I was messed up (couldn't sleep), age 13 read Byron's poetry/bio & knew I was like him. Father & Grandmother high IQs but short tempers.
Treatments
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- Makes me sleep well. No known side effects
- Depakote Working / Worked
- Good vs. seizures/mania. Side effects, weight gain & a little "dopey" feeling
- Group Therapy Working / Worked
- good, MD psych' told my parents they were "hovering" & to let me go away to college
- Haldol Not Working
- HORRIBLE, couldn't walk/talk/think
- Holistic Health Somewhat Helpful
- tried biofeedback, helped IF I was at therapists' or if I listened to tape but couldn't do it alone
- Lithium Somewhat Helpful
- OK but wore out & hurt my liver
- Risperdal Not Working
- BAD made me HYPER
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- Makes me sleep well. No known side effects
- Xanax Working / Worked
- good for sleep. I have extremely high manias & b4 treatment would go literally 2 months w/less than 3 hours' sleep a night. Still working 50 hours/week & doing good work (according to supervisor who is now a good friend)
- Zyprexa Somewhat Helpful
- not as good as Depakote with Seroquel
