I have decided not to see my kids on Thanksgiving. I work the day before Thanksgiving, which was supposed to be the day I picked up the kids, and Thanksgiving day until 2 PM. There mother has made it clear in the past that if I worked while I have the kids, then I will not see them. I couldn't get out of either of the days. To take a bus would be crazy. I would go to the meeting point and have to get a hotel because there are no return trips the same day. I would not want my kids to have to spend about 10 hours on a bus. It is 205 miles each way. I decided a week ago that my ex could have the boys for Thanksgiving. Overall, it would run me about $650 for a four day visit. This would add up over the months. I hate to do it, but I feel I made the right move.
My ex is even trying to get me to move back to the house. I was like, "No way. I am disabled, do not drive and should be living in a single floor home. I do not need a 3-br home for myself. I am not going to be able to maintain the upkeep on the house. I really do not want to be almost 4 hours from my family and have nooone to lean on for support.

I am in a bit of a predicament. I gave up my driver's license after my accident that totaled my car and left me with a compressavion fracture in my back. My family has to work the day before Thanksgiving and I am going to need to find other means of transportation to see them. The few numbers that have been provided to me have not panned out or have been to costly. I am not sure which way to turn.

What do you mean? How are ypu trying to get there? Rent a car? Fly?

Can you put a local ad, asking if anyone is going to your destination for the holiday?

How far do you have to go from where you are now? How about taking a bus?

I will be seeking the advice of my lawyer even further. My ex has decided to break the custody agreement that we both signed off on and had agreed to. I am beginning to see her word really means nothing. After the holiday, I will contact my lawyer and pursue the necessary actions.

that sux!! bit reacting quickly is paramount so her lawyer cant accuse you of not caring

Was this a legal contract? If so, bypass the lawyer because of the weekend and call the police! Courts and District Attorneys take these situations as seriously as child abduction.

That's a rough spot, but you have definately looked at it from all angles and what is best for your kids and yourself. Good Job! It'll be hard, but you will be better in the long run!
