Tuesday my Nana died tragically as a result of falling down the stairs. She was DOA but was revived on site despite her previous request of a DNR (Do Not Rescusitate). She suffered a massive scull fracture, hematoma and hemorraging of the brain. The whole family arrived at the hospital with hopes that she had survived this like she had survived so many other challenges, including lung cancer. She was a fighter and her heart was not ready to stop beating, but her brain had been irrevocably damaged beyond cognition, beyond redemption and beyond conciousness. They took her off the life support as we clasped her hands in ours and prayed to God to welcome her with open arms. The same open arms that she always offered to everyone. Her heart stayed beating for 10 minutes after she was taken off life support, untill we were ready to say goodbye. She was my role model, my inspiration and my hope. She accomplished so many things in life and was proud of me for who I was and everything I did. I love you Nana, you are my guardian angel now and I know you will be watching over me. May you rest in peace and provide my mom, your daughter, with your presence that she so desperately needs.
so sorry for your loss...sounds like your Nana led a beautiful life and has a family that loves her dearly.
