    • Close Addison's Disease

Diagnosed with Addison's in 1999. Have acquired several complications as a result of the medications and the disease itself.

      Treatments

      Cortisol Working / Worked
No side effects, but this seems to be a very rudimentary treatment for Addison's.
      Florinef Working / Worked
Helps keep my salt and potassium levels on track.
    • Close Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

Suffering from depression since 1999 when I was diagnosed with Addison's disease.

      Treatments

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
Works occasionally. Having trouble finding the right therapist.
      Elavil Working / Worked
Works better than the many other medications I've been on.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
Works occasionally. Having trouble finding the right therapist.
Support from Friends & Family Somewhat Helpful
Few friends understand the severity of my depression.
      Writing Somewhat Helpful
Sometimes I'm too depressed to even write in my journal.
    • Open Diabetes Type 2

      Treatments

      Amaryl Somewhat Helpful
Makes my BG drop quickly; must take with a meal.
      Metformin Working / Worked
Works over a longer period of time, not necessary to take immediately with a meal.
    • Open Insomnia

Actually, I have 'delayed sleep phase syndrome' and 'free-running internal circadian rhythm'. In other words, my body thinks the day is longer than 24 hours. Currently not on any medications for these disorders.

    • Open Seasonal Affective Disorder

Diagnosed with SAD several years ago. Currently using a blue-wavelength light box for treatment.

    • Open Chronic Pain

Have had chronic back pain for as long as I can remember, but it got much worse after being put on medication for Addison's disease.

      Treatments

      Heat Somewhat Helpful
      It's pretty hit and miss.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
Works well in conjunction with Fentanyl patch.
      Duragesic Patch Working / Worked
Works well in conjunction with Hydrocodone.
    • Open Anxiety

Social anxiety began shortly after my mother's death in 2002.

      Treatments

      Klonopin Working / Worked
Works well for the most part.
    • Open Osteoporosis

Recently diagnosed with Osteoporosis, caused by long-term steroid use for Addison's disease.
