Journal Entry for May 5, 2009 Mood
Tuesday, May 5, 2009 | A Tragic story

Something awful happened yesterday. As some of you know, we live by a lake. It has almost thawed out but  very slushy ice is pushed up against the dock....our dog thought it was ok to walk on it and went through and we didn't know. we noticed that he wasn't around and called and called him. Finally my husband found him floating by the dock. He was dead of course...wasn't able to get out of the slush. We are devastated and miss him terribly. He was such a good little dog. Very affectionate and sweet.

I can't stop thinking about him struggling and no one there to help him. I feel i let him down and want to cry all the time. I know time will heal this but i feel there is a big hole in my life now. Trying to think of all the good things...like he didn't get old and have to suffer and be put to sleep. The water is icy cold and maybe it didn't take very long for him to die...and on and on....

Oh, i'm so sorry. I know how you must feel and the thoughts going thru your mind. But you didn't let him down. Accidents happen to our pets that are beyond our control. I had to have my little Peke put to sleep last May. She was 13 and I know her last year was a bad one but i just couldnt let go. I will be thinking of you. I know some people dont understand but our pets are our babies.

Oh I'm so sorry. You mustn't blame yourself though, accidents happen all the time and can happen so easily. Pets become part of the family so it's natural to miss them when they are gone.
I'll keep you in my prayers........(((hugs)))
