are our lives really so much harder to manage than everyone else's
because there's REALLY something wrong with the way our heads work
and we really DO have debilitating mood swings that we can't control...
or are we just so much worse at handling life
because everybody's life is hard
and everybody's head is at least a little fucked up.

I understand where you're coming from. It's perception. Do we just perceive it to be that much worse? Maybe. What difference does it make. Maybe the twisted perception IS the illness. Either way, it makes everything harder to handle. But not impossible. I think the key is to have the attitude that we can and will get better. Then when we need it, we remember our meds. LOL.
