ahhhhhh.....acupuncture! Mood
Friday, July 3, 2009 | A General Update story

The one person I can ALWAYS depend on....my acupuncturist.  He agrees with the gallbladder thing...not sure if its stones or cholesystitis so he used about 30 needles on my lower legs and achilles tendon, applied heat to my back and then gave me a massage and did fire cupping.  There is not a tense muscle in my body.  Whenever I get off the table, I am always a little bit woozy.  Takes me a few minutes to gather myself enough to walk out of the office and drive.

Before I tried acupuncture, I wasn't sure how I felt about it.  I have used native medicines and herbs for years but letting someone stab you with needles to open up your chi....???  That somehow didn't make sense to me, but I swear by it now.  No wonder the Chinese have used it for thousands of years.  The older medicines and herbs have proven them self time and again and are still used.  AND the list of side effects is very small compared to the list of the pharmaceuticals they try to shove down our throats.  They certainly have been "tested" for more time than these new drugs.

One thing I will say about the alterntive treatments, are that they are a mind/body thing.  If the mind doesn't believe its gonna work, it generally won't work.  Plus these are not "magical cures" and don't work instantly.  It takes time.  My acupuncturist explains dealing with chronic pain with peeling an onion.  Chronic pain starts with an original problem which causes other problems.  To get to the root problem, you have to peel away the layers of pain.  Once you have gotten to that core problem and worked on it, it generally only means having to go through the needling every 6-8 weeks.  UNLESS you let things build up again for too long, then it might take a couple of sessions to get back to that core issue.

My journal has turned into a testimony for acupuncture, but seriously, if you are searching for an alternative treatment, I highly recommend you give it a try.  It certainly won't do any harm.

Doc Perdue has quietd the dragon down some today and all I want to do is sleep.

Basket, I too was a lot like you....I didn't know what think, so I tried it. And I haven't been back in a couple of years. (I had gone prior to Fibro)....but I'm considering doing it again.
My girlfriend who also has Fibro has a niece who just graduated a couple of years ago. And she was visiting her. She did the cupping and it was amazing what that does for you!
Also she shared that she learned that it's believed that one of the reasons why we don't loose weight has a lot to do with our liver. So, she started my friend on a herb (can't remember the name of it....basically it's ground up animal organs) and it has helped my friend loose 6lbs the first day.

    I do believe! I believe, I believe, I believe!

I've been researching acupuncturists in my area. If I can get approved for disability, I will add this to my budget. I honestly believe it's my last resort since I simply can't seem to tolerate any drugs. I also believe I'd be in a different place had I tried this in the first place 20 years ago...

I'm so glad you're going to have a wonderful rest of today.
