We should start a thread with peoples' ideas about healthcare. It would be interesting to hear the experiences…

I think it's going to be not such a good thing. Glenn Beck was on last night with a panel of doctors…

    Give dottiew a hug

I think it's a very good idea. It's been done from different angles, I think in our group and I know in the Depression Group. It was civil in ours, but got bloody over there. I would like to hear more from people in countries who already have some form of government - run option too.

My Mom just told me about her 4 hour wait in line for a flu shot from our (probably local - ?? - "government"). The line stared out behind the building in a bus parking lot, and weaved in and out till it led down the stairs inside. Four hours later, she was filling out paper work. My Dad already has "government issue insurance" from the V. A. - he says "it's better than nothing."

I hear you on the new health care. I am a bleeding heart and I want Everyone to have access to treatment. And I'm a conservative and realist too, so I see something very expensive, far reaching, and cumbersome coming our way. I'm not big brain, so I don't have a better idea - but I just wish someone with a larger brain than mine would come up with a balanced solution for everyone, where we're not waiting in line like you said - like other countries do. Hm, this could be a lengthy discussion (sorry). Feel free to pm me anytime if you feel like talking more about it. Thanks again!

Hello, I'm hoping all is going well for you right now. I've been back down to the city helping sort things out for my parents and have missed once again catching up with everyone. Hopefully we will soon. Have a lovely weekend too. I love Sundays! Cheers

    • Close Diets & Weight Maintenance

I need support and motivation to lose approximately 70 pounds. I'd like to do this by next July, but will be happy if I can lose 50 pounds by then. Would like to correspond with someone who is in my situation.

      Treatments

      Counting Calories Somewhat Helpful
Tried a foot exchange diet and it worked forawhile.
      Eat Less Working / Worked
This helps for aawhile then I start to overeat.
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
Lost quite a bit of weight a number of yeaers ago walking and cutting portions. Can't seem to maintain motivation though.
      Weight Watchers Not Working
Wasn't too helpful. Got tired of all the clapping, etc., and stopped going.
    • Close Rheumatoid Arthritis

I was diagnosed with RA on my son's 30th birthday! I had been treated for Sjogrens for about 4 to 5 years with no serious problems. I am mostly troubled by the fatigue. The rheumatologist feels it was caught early. So far I haven't lost any time at work due to it except for doctor's appointments, but I can't do nearly as much at home as I'd like to. I also have a lot of weight to lose, so I have to be really careful about what I eat.

      Treatments

      Folic Acid Working / Worked
No problems with it. But I'm so new to RA that I don't know if it will be effective in mitigating the side effects of the methotrexate.
      Methotrexate Somewhat Helpful
So far I haven't had any terribly severe flare-ups, but my inflammation level did increase so now I am up to 6 pills a week. If the level doesn't go down in 2 months the doctor will add another medication. Ugh!
      Plaquenil Working / Worked
No major problems with it. Have been on it for about 4 to 5 years.
      Prednisone Working / Worked
I'm on a pretty low dose of this and it did relieve the pain and stiffness in my hands pretty quickly.
