Close Stuttering

My child stutters. He was recently diagnosed as it has been only th past 6 months where his word stutters were more obvious than the strange gasping/breathing difficulties he had been having for years. We thought this was an actual respiratory problem and were really "off track" with his treatment. His speech has tremendously worsened lately. While speaking more fluent then usual, he clocked in with a 8.2% disfluency. He is 9 years old and often just gives up while speaking now.
