I'm a psychiatric nurse with biploar 11, since becoming bipolar I have been unable to work because the medications make my hands too shakey and I can't take night call as I have a whole cocktail of "sleep meds" to take. I still grieve over the loss of my vocation. One day while I was at work the nursing supervisor came to me and handed me a letter written by a female patient. The letter went on to say that because of an interaction she had had with me she decided not to committ suicide. I didn't remember the details as I worked on a very busy unit but just to let people know you can have all the book knowledge and degrees in the world but sometimes the simplicity of the voice and communication on a patient's level of understanding is what is needed.

This is very true. My brother has a degree in Psychology and thinks he understands me......WRONG!!! I'm glad to see you made a difference.

I have the pleasure to have met you in person and you are one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I totally agree that more health care personnel sometimes shouls forget about follow rules and they should follow their hearts. You are great, dear friend! Love you!
