I hate to say it was both a great weekend and a bad weekend all in one so I guess calling it a busy weekend sounds better. It started on Friday night when we went to the motorcycle races with some friends. We had a blast....it took me back to my childhood. My dad used to race & that is how I spent most of my weekends as a kid. But, my DH had to go back to work after the races & didn't get home until 2:30AM.....needless to say he slept half of Saturday away.

Then came Saturday! I woke up & had to do some organizing & cleaning before I had all the shower gifts to bring home. We went & got some brunch & I went & got my haircut. When we got home from our errands we found our lab Meylo walking on 3 legs. His front paw was drawn up & he was whimpering. He NEVER whimpers!!!! So, I knew that our great friend Niki would be at the shower so I would ask her to come over & check him out ~ she is his vet after all. It pays to know people :)

The baby shower was GREAT!!!! I had such a wonderful time. There were so many people there & the cafe that hosted it for me went ALL out. We are talking the catering, the decorations, games, prizes, and gifts. They even served wine....well to everyone but me :) I pretty much now have all the big items except the highchair & a few little things. Danicka has a dresser & a closet full of clothes. Instead of cards everyone brought a Little Golden Book & wrote a message inside. I have a lot of reading to do with Dani girl when she is born.  One of my grandma's (my grandma passed 2yrs ago) best friends bought 5 books about nursery rhymes & wrote a message to Dani about my grandma in it.....it was so sentimental & made me cry....I had to stop reading it until I came home. Then my cousin knitted an adorable cap & made a card that said it was made in honor of Danicka's great grandma....again I cried! But, besides those tears.....my shower was beautiful!!!!!

Niki came over Sat night & checked Meylo. His toe was very swollen & he couldn't bear any weight on it all. But, there was no obvious infection, fox tail, or anything else. She told me to bring him in on Sunday since she was working as the emergency vet. We took him to the clinic yesterday to get an xray. After much confusion & irritation from the techs up front we finally got Meylo into Niki. She did an xray on his foot. Thankfully (I think) he didn't have a fracture but we still couldn't find anything that was causing the swelling. He had been chewing on his paw & had a slice in his pad (had not been there on Sat) we think he did it cause it was hurting so much. Niki put him on antibiotics just in case it was an infection in the actual toe & on an anti-inflammatory/pain pill. Within an hour of taking the meds he was already trying to walk on it again. The sad thing is watching him with the cone on his head....it is so pathetic ~ the cone of shame!!!! But, as long as my pup gets better I will do almost anything for him!

So, after a busy weekend I am pooped. I am almost done organizing Dani's stuff. Her room is almost completed. I just have the detail stuff to do & hang up some pics & curtains. All her clothes are washed...I love the smell of clean baby clothes. I am so excited to finally be a mommy....I can't wait to hold my little girl in my arms!
