    • About Me

I like to get to know ppl first before I add them to my list. I have suffered from episodes of depression and anxiety for about twenty years. The anxiety has improved but I'm still vulnerable to episodes of depression when under pressure. I am married, have two grown-up sons who are married, and have six grandchildren, two of those are twins, a boy and a girl born in March 09. Was a primary school teacher for many years, loved my job as it was very rewarding, but the stress involved with the work triggered feelings of depression and exacerbated my anxiety. Sorry but not recieving friends unless I've spoken with you.

    • Close Ovarian Cancer

I came to this site when my sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Sept 07. I was so devastated and needed support from others who were experiencing similar problems. My sister has now finished her chemotherapy treatment, and her results have been clear. Such a relief!! She will have a scan in 2 months time to check everything is still alright.

    • Close Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

      Treatments

      Effexor Somewhat Helpful
It has helped in some ways although when I go through a particularly bad time I wonder if they do have any effect. I suffer excessive sweating with the med.

      Positive Thinking Working / Worked
      Psychotherapy Not Working
The counsellor asked me how I can overcome my problems. I replied by saying I hoped she had some suggestions. If I knew the answers I wouldn't have asked for her professional advice.

      Meditation Considering
I'm learning to meditate to help me relax and to induce sleep as I have great problems going off to sleep. It has helped, but too soon to say if it's solved my problem yet.
      Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
Try to keep an optimistic outlook. The Stresspac course has helped to keep me focused on good realistic thoughts.
