A little bit of a soul spill for my anticipatory grief.
For me, lyrics in songs always twang a certain part of me. Subconsciously I go looking through the folders of mp3s we have on this computer and search for the right song. So, how do I feel about what is going on right now? Some verses that come to mind, going through this entire process. I had a ton on here at first, but I've streamlined to the really important ones.
About me and my mom:
Fall Out Boy - "I've Got a Dark Alley..."
Please put the doctor on the phone
Cause I'm not making any sense
Blame everyone but me for this mess
And my back has been breaking from this heart
We never seemed so far
I am hopelessly hopeful, you're just hopeless enough
But we never had it at all
First part of this is her dying process, second is me watching it, and feeling responsible for her welfare:
Jack's Mannequin - "Bruised"
I lace my Chucks, I walk the aisle
I take my pills, the babies cry
All I hear is what's playing through
The in-flight radio
Now every word of every song
I ever heard that made me wanna stay
Is what's playing through
The in-flight radio, and I
And I am, finally waking up
Hours pass, and she still counts the minutes
That I am not there, I swear I didn't mean
For it to feel like this
Like every inch of me is bruised, bruised
Don't fly fast. Oh, pilot can you help me?
Can you make this last? This plane is all I got
So keep it steady, now
Cause every inch you see is bruised, yeah
Her entire process, and her having to leave my dad behind:
Jack's Mannequin - Rescued
(I'm not posting the whole thing, you can click here)
The process of growing up, life and death, parenting:
Ben Folds - Still Fighting It
Dying, death - anger, inevitability, everything:
Our Lady Peace - Thief

How about This?

Music seems almost therapeutic to you & lots of other people I've met. I'm glad you have that outlet through these trying times. I guess that's why we have music in the first place: the lyrics help us through our lives simply by showing us we're not alone in our journies... others have travelled the same path and made it through to the other side:)
