My name is Cherie. I am a Mother of 2 sons, one of which has TBI from a motorcycle accident in October of 2006. Shaun is home after a year and a half journey through hospitals, sub-acute hospitals, rehabs and now home, getting in home therapy. Pray for us both for the strength to get through this and for giving him more determination to do so also. I am looking for support from those parents/friends, etc., who have gone through this journey. Thank you - Cherie

Well, I use to love traveling.. have been to Australia, China, Thailand, Buenos Aires, Sicily, London, Paris... have been blessed with being able to travel mostly with my step-mom and on my own... I think those days are over with, so I am glad that I was able to do it. Took both of my sons on several cruises - Alaska, Panama Canal, Carribean.. was wonderful...

Hi all... just a quickie as I forgot to ever write in the journal... but Shaun, my 29 year old son, had a motorcycle accident 10-9-06.. after several …
Keep up your fantastic work!! Hope things are going well.
I hope you are well and having a good week. Hugs
Thinking of you and sending some hugs. Hope you're doing well.
Michael is looking good. He has his good days and bad days but he is still fighting. His blood pressure, heartrate, respitory rate and fevers have all been good for the most part. He loves to go outside. The therapist feels like he is not in a persistant vegitative state because he is more aware of his surroundings. When I have the voice box on him it makes me sad because all I get is a lot of moaning and groaning but it is something for right now. We are hoping that the trach can be removed in a few weeks. That is what we were told. He moves around alot. He watches alot of TV. His eyes are always focused on the TV. When I talk to him, he looks right in my eyes and he trys so hard to talk back. That makes me want to cry. Michael was a big 260 and 5/11 when this accident took place on 8/9/08. Todays weight was 186. He still looks good though. Not to thin for him. His nickname was P.O.R.K. I think we are going to have to change that to S.L.I.M.
My 29 year old sustained a TBI in october of 2006. Our journey is on going and he came home in January of 08. We both need lots of support... we don't get it from anyone at home, so maybe we can get it from this group. Cherie and Shaun
